I don't get why this posted. Maybe I'm missing some triple-layered inside joke or something

I think it's meant to be a joke. Board games are what people had before video games, so she's probably playing on that concept, "I got this board game...but it don't work on my 360". Heck, they've turned board games into video games, I don't think people play them as much and it might be a dig saying, "kids don't know what board games are". Either that...or she really is a daft bugger.

That said, I still play board games on the rare occasion, I had fun kicking my family's butt more than once at monopoly over Christmas. It's fun making them bankrupt with all my hotels.

I think it is, but I do know people who ask me how to rewind a DVD after watching.

Then you don't have to play "as" monster in D&D, players will like you.

I believe she's making fun of today's youth on the fact that the only games they know of are "video" games and the concept of a physical board game is lost on them.

This video made me laugh more:

Definitely a satirical view of the ignorance of the up and coming generation. It's like the line about "Kids today will never understand the relationship between an audio cassette and a pencil". Then again, my generation and the previous one were similarly criticized. Just how it goes. Still, funny video. Good laughs

I've worked in a video shop (actually two). While I never got asked how to rewind a DVD, somebody did come in one day saying "it freezes when I fast-forward it" meaning it froze when they pressed "skip" (Turns out it was just taking long to load iirc).

I still play Talisman at every opportunity I get. I know that there are people out there who think the mechanics of the game are outdated or flawed but I still think it's the perfect game. You can introduce a new player and have them understand the game in minutes.

Have you checked out http://www.talisman-game.com/? I already have my pre-order down and while prologue is limited as a Talisman fan I have already put many hours into it.

Last time board games came up I thought about creating a thread to discuss boardgames.

I also have many failed attempts at recreating my favourite boardgames in DBPro and AGK.

To feel yourself "old" just ask any of the young people:

I used to play Talisman a lot when I was younger. Interesting to know there will be a digital version, might get it myself then we could arrange a game sometime.

@mr Handy

A pencil was used to wind the tape back when it unraveled.

Kids would look at cassettes today and be like a caveman looking at a car.

I think in 2100 tape would be something elite and vintage again.

I know that, but...
"what does a pencil and a tape have in common".. doesnt feel like the right question - does a pencil... show movies? Or... maybe the tape can draw?!

It's a different generation, I mean - there's no reason why a 7 year old should know about azimuth head alignment, but in the 80's we all had to. Getting some games to load from tape was a nightmare, we had to practically be audio engineers sometimes.

BTW the pencil goes through one of the spools on a cassette tape, and can tighten it up or even rewind the whole tape with it.

Hell, I still remember when any game was called a tape (or 'tip' in Scotland), cartridges, floppy disks, CD's, they were all called tapes until the 90's .

I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more memes.

Before reading this, I would have no clue on that answer. Is this bad? Am I the ignorant new generation? Lol this kind of thing must have happened every generation for a very long time.
