Don't confuse plugin with extension.

[href]chrome://plugins/[/href]

I found several plugins that I believe I could disable safely, such as adobe pdf viewer. Why do I need two pdf viewers if I have Chrome's already built in?

Didn't know what uplay was, so I looked it up. Apparently, it's an "exploitable, rootkit-like plug-in" installed by Ubisoft.

I was looking into my flash plugin... or plugins really. If it seems like flash crashes way too often on Chrome, check this out:
http://www.howtogeek.com/103292/how-to-fix-shockwave-flash-crashes-in-google-chrome/

Only time will tell if it works or not.

I had Chrome crashing Flash when I was running Windows 8 (I'm running 7 at the moment in order to set up a dual-boot between the two), but it isn't anymore. I thought perhaps it was just a bad update they sent out but I'll check out that link!

If you're still using chrome, then this could still apply to you even on linux.

According the article, Chrome uses it's own flash plugin, and not the one installed on the system like FF or IE use. Chrome detects both versions however and apparently can get confused on which one to use and that supposedly causes the crash. So it tell you to disable one.

The only extension I've got on Chrome is AdBlock. I cleared out a few extensions a few weeks ago because I was never using them. Just double checked them now and there's only AdBlock. Plus Chrome for linux has had a recent update too because it's flash player wasn't working. Thankfully it is now. Usually linux updates for Chrome is about a week behind Windows.

not sure how involved WLGfx is with gaming industry but... Itsnt it kind of a bit odd for people involved in the gaming industry to be using adblock? <aka making games, possibly for profit.. through ads>

I dont use adblock, because it makes me feel like a complete dick.. whenever I visit here, or youtube.

I do the same thing, I guess you could install an adblock and disable it for twitch, youtube and any other site you want to support. But I don't realy find ads that anoying when they are not in videos.

I dont feel like youtube ads - for example, that play for like what? 5-13 seconds before the video, is that much of a big deal..

Same here, but what I said was that you can use adblock but disable it for sites such as youtube. And since ads are not that anoying when not in videos, so there isn't realy a point in me using an adblock at all

Extensions are different than plugins. I had a few listed that I wasn't aware of were installed, such:

Interestingly, one of the java files description says "Java Plug-in 10.13.2 for Mozilla browsers". It is required for chrome however, as disabling it will disable java in your chrome browser.

I did disable iTunes, Adobe, Remote desktop, and MS Office (since I don't do any online document stuff).

I use adblock along with updating my host file to completely block anything from doubleclick and other ad companies I may find to be used everywhere. In my opinion, it's made browsing the web more stable for me. And in terms of supporting websites through ads, I have never clicked on an advert on any website. Maybe once in the last 10 years. I'm willing to bet ads on websites make up for a large chunk of bandwidth on the internet.

@Phaelax - Interesting list, something I wasn't aware of and I'll have to have a nosey through the files on my system to find out what exactly is in their.

AdBlock for me takes away what I consider, junk, so the website I'm on (usually facebook and researching stuff) doesn't get cluttered. I just want to see the content and nothing else. Plus it speeds up the page loading.

I'm not anywhere in the gaming industry, at least not yet anyway, I'm more of a hobbyist coder and have been for over 30 years.

Chrome still uses them probably. Like I mentioned my Java plugin said for mozilla browsers, but disabling it disabled java in chrome.
