After fooling around with 1.088, I have realized it still needs a little more time in the oven before my team can use it. If it's going to take longer than a month, we can shift gears and continue using 1.076.

What's wrong with releasing games with the current beta? I have.

I live for video games! (And beers, and football, and cars!)

Well, technically, I guess I will be releasing a game with the curren beta, just not using the 3D commands that come with it.

Some things that work in v1076, like EditBox, are known to be buggy in v1088.

And there have also been some questions about performance when doing only 2D stuff.

That's a little unsettling, however, hopefully AppGameKit will have that taken care of by the time we release (near Thanksgiving, unless some sort of miracle happens).

I think it has been mentioned elsewhere in this forum by one of the AppGameKit developers that the v108 betas are actually closer to an alpha release than they are to a final release in the scale of doneness without errors.

v1088 is not an official release at all. They put it out there so we could play with it (and help them find what doesn't work).

Since I don't need 3D, I am continuing with my current project in v1076 (although I would like to be able to used some of the other v1088 functions).

I know, I didn't think about it when I typed it.

I had a similar reaction back in the '80s when I was asked whether I preferred PCs to Apples (I don't think the first Apple computers had any other name). My response was "I can go either way" and the two gentlemen in the office nearly died of laughter and follow-up innuendo.
