e. g. if i want to develop for ios, so iphone 3/4/5, ipad, ...

yes, of course i need a mac.

but can i develop for all theese apple devices without having them all?

sorry for another newbie question...

I believe that you need a mac to compile for the iOs devices, but once you have compiled, you don't need any of the devices. Apart from if you want to test the app on them.

thank you very much!

so, i could develop my app, take care of different resolution, frame rate etc., maybe test the app on one apple device (does the controls work etc.) using the player service, then compile it on a mac (in the faq it is said that one device has to be connected?!)...

that should work, or not?!

thx...

...do you think this should work?

develop on windows, compile on mac, distribute an app without having an apple device?

or all the apple devices to develop for?

thank you very much!!!

You don't technically need any devices to develop on as long as you have a mac to compile iOS apps. However, for testing purposes you may want to get one of each major kind of device (iPod Touch or iPhone, and iPad).

You'll need a mac and a yearly developer licence to compile any AppGameKit project. But due to Apples anal app submission process, I'd personally suggest you test all iOS apps before submitting.

Yes you can develop for iPhone, iPad, iPad mini without owning the devices.

However if you can afford it I'd recommend getting an iPad mini. It's the cheapest product, and supports the standard iPad resolution. If it runs on that hardware at 1024x768 then it will almost certainly work on the retiner displays which are just double resolution and have more power to compensate for it.

Xcode also has iPad and iPhone simulators which mostly work okay.

But you cannot test anything that relies on the accelerometer on the simulators.
