3 Dimensional Chat / need help on skinning in milkshape

Ive recently downloaded milkshape and made my first character model on it, now all i need to do is texture it but im not sure how to, i cant find any decent tutorials.
i need to know how to unwrap it so i can then make a texture in a paint program.
can any1 help me.
also what 3d modeler would you say was good for making levels for your games?

there is preaty detailed tutorial of woman modeling somewere on net. There is link to it somewere on Milkshape tut. page.


As I remember you have to split your model to groups, create material, assign material to your model, then select apropirate grup, go to UV texture editor and select view, then edit.

yes, its a teadious proccess. sometimes you must go triangle by triangle if your textures are not laid out right. Also, if you select the whole limb and texture it, the texture is copyied to the back view and stretched on the sides. This would look bad as a head shot But, for the price, MS3D is just awsome. As with any software package, expect to spend time learning and cussing as you figure out exactly whats going on. There is a big difference between reading about it and actually doing it. But still read, it does help.
