This was posted on FB today.

11 x 11 = 4
22 x 22 = 16
33 x 33 = ???

I found two different patterns that fit, giving different results.



What do you guys come up with?

Aside from the fact that the equations are wrong, I think it's 36. It appears the digits are first added and then multiplied.

(1+1)x(1+1) = 2x2 = 4
(2+2)x(2+2) = 4x4 = 16
(3+3)x(3+3) = 6x6 = 36

Write equations to solve each possible permutation of the digits 1-3:

I've given the answers to the obvious two.

HINT


Bonus: Can you write one equation that solves for all permutations? You are only allowed one variable, which I will call m. (I'm not sure this is possible yet just trying it myself!)

well obviously, otherwise it'd be a simple matter of just solving the equation.
