Assuming Object 3 is a sphere, all that snippet is doing is slowly scaling the object to be bigger, and fadeing it as it gets bigger.

What it is diong is scaling the size of the object each loop, and then fading it a bit, which gives it the effect of an expanding, disipating (disapearing) explosion.

You can do it a bit more simpler than that, there is a few lines you don't really need in there.
