Sony just announced that the PS4 will have NO online DRM and NO restrictions on used games. Sell that stock now, as it's surely going to plummet

I'd say this is a sound and justified prediction!

PS4 should have higher performance too! I'm not going to buy any console but I would go with the PS4 if I had a choice. Xbox sales will be interesting...

@Fuzz - haha, I love it. I wish the console fanboys had the same sense of humour about it instead of insulting each other all the time.

That's an incredibly funny video, the exact response Sony should have made. At the time of posting this comment, there are literally non stop youtube comments flowing. Everyone agrees, funnily enough.

PS4 multiplayer is paid (PS plus)

There's nothing else to talk about so yes.

I think I am gonna end up getting a Playstation 4. I love my 360, but the PS4 is beginning to look more attractive, though I am currently catching up on E4. There's already 1 title announced I'm interested in, Final Fantasy XV. If there's backwards compatibility with the PS3, then that would be a bonus.

Backwards compatibility is planned to be accomplished via streaming (since Sony bought Gakai out it was quite obvious they'd to something like that).

PS2 & PS3 games could possibly be played that way, PS1 gems unfortuneately not from what I read so far.

But well, that's once again the whole "being online to play" stuff and people would most likely have to repurchase their games that way, like it's done on the Wii / Wii-U with the virtual console.

To be fair they'll prolly be quite low priced and if they're streamed I suspect a subscription could be involved (like OnLive). Unfortunately my internet sucks here, I live in a small village so we don't get a big broadband speed, so I can't actually use OnLive, so I suspect by proxy I won't be able to use any of these game streaming services.

The idea of 'always online' with the XBox One is a turn off because my internet isn't always that great and I don't like feeling restricted, so I don't see myself taking over to a mate's and playing, like I used to with my 360. I can even make Steam go offline, the only reason I don't is because my PC is constantly on the net regardless and I use Steam to chat. Still, the option is there at least. Though I am still not fond of much of the DRM used on PCs, but we all know that debate.

It's a shame it's not true backwards compatability, but it's only a handful of PS3 exclusives I wouldn't have minded playing. I can see why they've done it that way, it made the original PS3 too expensive and they probably wanted to focus on the PS4 itself. For PS2/PS1 games, Playstation 2s go pretty cheap (my old one is knackered) and are still around, so it's no biggy really, heck, my GameCube still lives, just a shame my TV isn't very good at scaling SD. I know there's emulation, but I don't think that's technically legal unless you acquire the bios off of your own console (and of course use your own games).

Is it scheduled or at random, though? If it's the latter, it may as well be Always Online.

The grin on the Sony Exec's face in that Sharing Games video says it all. Where Microsoft have fumbled the ball, Sony have picked it up, kicked it into their rival's face, then turned to soak up the applause.

Honestly, I have never seen such a ridiculously one-sided E3 standoff between these two. MS will have to redo a lot of its announced plans if it wants to get even.

Judging by the amount of ridicule, and "RIP XBox 1 2013-2013" pics, I'd say Sony tossed the ball to the crowd before heading off to the sauna, and now they're taking turns kicking it at Microsoft, too.

It's a horrible situation to be in where even your loyal fans of the previous gen are against you, but hey, I honestly want to know what MS were smoking if they thought they could change things up so drastically, hike the price up and take away freedom to share games, and that their customers wouldn't flock to Sony...

I'm seriously at a loss for how MS managed to screw up this badly. It's going to cause serious damage for years. The PS3 lost price, but it was still a relatively competitive rig once the playing field started to level after a few years.

Agree Microsoft is starting to falter, Windows 8, Xbox and Windows Phone 8 seem doomed.

I don't see a future for Windows on desktops, Linux is ready to take over.

Windows Phone 8 won't take off without a huge increase in investment which Microsoft don't seem able to provide.

Would invest in Google instead, web based applications are the future. Developing outside of web may become almost obsolete in next few decades.

The graph for Microsoft's stock is kinda funny looking to me. It's doing okay initially at about $35 then it fell down to about $34.15~ around the time the Xbox One was announced. If you were going short on that one you might have made a few bucks depending on spread. Microsoft's stock price is doing fairly well this year though. For the most part it's been at about $20 to $25 previously. Its high point was at $48~ around 1999. After that it dipped.

I'm no stock market expert but I seriously expect the stock to dip down to about $25 or so in the next few months. Personally I prefer the Forex.

I think that's about right for "applications." Completely disagree for "mission-critical games" though. I don't personally know anyone who actually enjoys to play online (HTML5/flash/JavaScript/others) games anymore.

Although it doesn't really matter all that much, I'd rather own a PS4 than an Xbox One. My laptop is currently running Windows 8, but I am regretting that decision. I should have just waited for Windows 8.1/9. (It dual boots with GNU/Linux though, but Windows uses way more space and this is all running from a small 64GB SSD, so space is limited!)

Windows 8.1 is apparently going to be free for current W8 users.

I'll just speak up for MS that Windows Phone 8 is actually a damn good OS. I have a Lumia 820, and it's a very slick environment.

But it has a horrible lack of apps, and there's so many junk ones among the apps that are actually present, as well as crappy ports.

MS could've had the perfect unification of PC OS, Phone OS and Console OS, but W8 is a weird hybrid that got shot down out of the gate for being unfriendly to traditional desktop users. The Xb1 has been shot out of the gate, for being unfriendly to most traditional gamers.

And WP8 isn't an iPhone or Android, so nobody even really knows it exists...

Despite my posts deriding Microsoft, I realy hope they pull everything together. If they get these 3 platforms up and running nicely, then they'll be able to have your laptop, phone, tablet and games console under their roof, aiming to create a unified environment from each one.
