1. Download the .exe to Windows machine and extract it
2. Copy the extracted folders to Mac
3. ????

Hmm... always glad to help, but... You will need Xcode unfortunately, as Tier 1 has only Win-based IDE

Quote: "Basically you can't use Tier 1 on Mac OS you must use Tier 2. So that exe will not work.

You can find help and documentation within the file.

Good luck with your projects

yeah but i will still need the broadcast ability...
and im not aiming only at apple products but also android and windows..
i have moved onto mac since my pc is very hackable..
its something you learn in Israel.. once youre online youre not safe
so im trying to do everything in order to keep my projects safe.

btw have Chalk%Crayon paid nicely?

Why not take your PC off-line while you're programming, then backup your work, remove it, and only then go back on line?

jim i was in intellegence when i was in the army
one thing i learned.. theres no such thing is sometimes online sometimes offline.

for example
i backup using a usb flash drive
until now i went offline (flight mode) when working on my projects
finished? backing it up , deleting from harddrive and going online playing battlefield.

last night i was hacked
you know what they did?
"implented" an additional drive detector
(which is something i know from the army)
once its on your pc.. and you havent cleaned it up
theres nothing you can do
cause the next time you'll insert any kind of drive
the system will tell that tool " hi , this is the current working dir of the removable data drive"
so i had no idea this was happening
everything worked smoothly
backed it up and went doing my things...

the next time i went offline
connected my USB and for some reasons.. damn there are no files.. at all
i need to start it all over.. it wont take me too much time
but what you gonna do right?

so once youre online.. you are always online even if you dont think its true.. it is.
there are ppl with expertise you couldnot imagined..
the best example i can give you is the Virus in the Atomic Core in Iran.. they had no idea that everything they are doing is going also somewhere else.

Israel is one of the first countries when it comes to electronic piracy..
one thing to remmber never mess with an Israeli hacker.. its bad i dont like it im an Israeli also ... so its kinda hard speaking like that but thats the truth nothing you or i can do to change it...

i used the method you are speaking of for 1 month
and i got hacked 2 times
last night was the last time my Projects will ever be online in any kind of way until the release and publish on markets.

this has thought me a few things:
1st backup on as many offline device you can
2nd each time you are working on a project , save it in a new folder with a new name like v.01 v.02 v.03
3rd the computer that you are working on should never ever ever be online for no matter what reson..
and Apple is the best at it since of the high end demand regarding security and bug fixes Apple OS have always shown.

i guess Steve Jobs won this battle. i just hope they wont go into the mist...

and 4th ... never again talk about what your project is about.

the world wide web have changed dramaticly any 13 year old kid with enough spare time can be a superB AAA hacker.. this is no joke.
this is why i dont show any of my work until the release.

ok .. back to work and save your files.

and yes i understand i sound abit crazy
but trust me there is Tech in this world that is out of this world
like US and Israeli armies have Next Next Next Next Next Gen that we will see only in a decade as the public.

another nice example is small (with 3d capabilites) tablets was in the israeli army for about 8 years now... i guess maybe even more i finished my duty about 8 years and then it was like 3rd or 4th gen of these devices...

yet a better example is the latest reports about the CIA monitoring all of US citizens .. so every Mobile, PC, Mac, anything that has Wifi or 3G or bluethooth or other elements of broadcasting is not safe.
however we build games and apps so we are not really the target but its all about what are they really searching for...

I wouldn't rely on Macs being safe.

I would buy a laptop to work and never let it on-line. My company demo laptops are like that. If they're working there's no need for system updates. They have their own small wireless router, which doesn't know the Internet exists.

All you Israelis are too clever by half!

Shalom.

All the AppGameKit coding is in straight C++, you don't have to deal with Apple's Objective-C.

I use the exact same files for all platforms and only have a couple of places that #ifdefs are needed to add/change for platform.

You update your Mac by copying the directories from your Windows PC (I have my Mac Mini and Windows PCs on the same network and they can see each other just fine for copying whole directories).

Until v108 is an official release, they won't provide a Mac installer (and the Debug libraries, apparently).

I responded to your question in the main v10814 three about which directories to copy over.

While you cannot use the AppGameKit IDE, you can build iOS and Mac apps from your media and byte code created on the PC.

And you can build your own iOS Players.

However, and this is the big gotcha, in order to connect your Mac Mini to devices for installation and testing, you must have an Apple iOS Developer License ($99 USD/year). If you plan to publish with Apple at some point, you will also need that license. And another Mac Developer License if you want to publish for Mac.

If you are familiar with C++/OOP to start with, switching over to Tier 2 is great. It opens up so many possibilities.

I need to finish my writeup for a methodology example that shows some the the ways of dealing with things in Tier 2 (and using the same files for all platforms). I already have the project working.

haliop, so how the big studios are developing games? 100% offline? Macs? Linux?

Healthy paranoia is okay, but come on... Windows 7&8 are pretty safe if up to date with firewall/antivirus.

not in Israel... and i can see how it can look like paranoia
but i was hacked 2 times this month so ...

and for your question , yes most of them are offline
or online but only within a certin network with a supprior bank like internet security programs and staff that monitors everything

think of what if BattleField 4 guys had their working computers online..
mostly when you see videos of big companies you actually see that each developer , artists or any other job related have a few computers
so the work pcs are totaly offline or online within that company network but the last pc is not a work pc and it is online cause the web offers so much..

this is how we did it in the army , all the computers are connected into a certain network and only a few computers in the entire base are actually connected to the online web.. its just safer..

Seems just a bit weird, since internet is "global", but I think it's possible.

I had my last malware/virus in the early days of Windows XP, over 10 years ago.

By the way, I was in army too, in troop communications(?).
