I've made a 3d torch with flickering fire but I can't figure out how to make it 'glow' so that the player can see it from a distance in a darkened area. I've tried changing ambient light levels and using point lights, but nothing works. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Have you tried to position the light at the spot of the torch? And then give it a distance to emit the light. And then you could change the color every loop to give it a flickering effect.

Thanks for the help.

Well, I found out I needed to set the ambient light flag to 0 in order to see the flames once the room was darkened. So the effect works pretty good now.

I do have a point light in the flame which 'hit's the surrounding area. I have it changing so that it matches the flicker of the flame.

For those curious on how I did my torch, it was pretty simple yet the effect is kind of cool. I used about 7 different fire textures that looked like a lit match or lighter. I textured them onto small plains and set the transparancy flag to 0. Then all I did was shuffle slowly through the 7 textures at random. The player always sees the torch flame (plain) because I set it's orientation to the camera lol.
