Hey guys. Just been having a look through your games and screenshots and I think it's a great testament to how much can be done in AppGameKit in a short time.
@SMD_3D
Very nice little helicopter game. I think you got the difficulty of controls just about right. As you say, a shame you didn't have time for more levels and stuff but it's a great start. I particularly liked how the little people ran over to the helicopter when you successfully landed on the landing pad. A little tweak would have been to hide the start button after it was pressed, as I kept trying to use it to restart until I realised I needed to click quit
. Also I like the background music and crunching sounds when you hit things. I found the "guys to save" text in light green very hard to read against the light blue sky though.
@Jammy
I tried to play your game but I got the following two errors from your two exes:
Exception EAccessViolation in module earthinvaders.exe at 7EF1F000. Access violation at address 7EF20000. Read of address 63E9001E.
Exception EAccessViolation in module earthdefencebyjammysoft.exe at 7EF1F000. Access violation at address 7EF20000. Read of address 63E9001E.
Any ideas what might be happening? As Zoq2 got it working, I wonder if it's just me? I'm on Windows 7 x64..
@Zoq2
Very impressive game, especially for the time! I really liked the visual style and the range of different weapons. The seeker missiles were great! It would have been nice if they had had an explosion animation though. Also I found strafing baffling as it is done relative to the spaceship and so changes on the screen. Overall though I am extremely impressed. Like I say, I think the visuals are wonderful. I love the jets out the back, the planets, and especially the giant enemy space cruiser things.
And as others have said, many thanks for organising it! Game jams are always a good way for me to keep my hand in at the coding when there seems to be so much else going on to take up my time.
@MrValentine
Really sorry to hear you've been struck down like that. Still, it can't be helped and there will always be another game jam. Feel free to take apart the code, although I don't promise that there are any comments
. And thanks again for making the banner!
@unlikely
Sorry to hear about your basement!

Have you seen
Hodgey's Sublime plugin for AppGameKit? It seems to have intellisense which I agree would be a massive help.

Yes it would be fun to do a rerun. The more warning we can give and the more of these occur, the more people will be aware of them and try to make time to enter.
Also is anyone here planning on entering the next
Ludum Dare (August 24-5) with AppGameKit? I might use it this time and it would be great to see some more TGC people around there. There are enough Unity/Flixl games in LD as it is!!
Anyhow thanks again all; a great weekends coding
.
