I hope this is ok to post here. I am making a space sim/RPG with pure DirectX9.0c and C++ (no third party library and not TGC)

I just hope you own those textures...

Nice work, I am working in DX11 soon, but already utilise it using another engine...

This has me ever more eager

Are you literally using the DX9 API or a middleware?

Seriously DX9 with no middleware. I started using it because GDK1.0 and 2.0 have problems that have yet to be addressed (2.0 appears to be abandoned). Once I started going pure DX, I found that I could do things that GDK wasn't designed to do (without serious modifications).

Well, I actually started out with DX. When I found GDK, I thought it would help me make games more quickly. Sadly it's not useful for high powered game making.
