Hello! I am just looking for opinions on my portfolio I made for my photography. All criticism is welcome! Please tell me if you see anything that should be different.

Thanks in advanced!

You definitely should not be darkening the image when the mouse is hovering over it. Otherwise, love your photos.

Agreed, those are nice photos! What camera do you use?

I use a Canon Rebel XS with the kit lens and a 70-300mm lens. I also have macro filters that I used for the flowers, bugs and rings. I am about to upload some more photos so if you check the site again in the next hour or so there will be more to view!

Edit: A couple were taken with a fujifilm s4200 which is what they call a "bridge camera" I prefer too call it a "wanabe SLR" haha.

I updated the website with more photos. I also created categorys to organize the photos. Do you like where the categorys are placed or should they be placed another way?

Hello! I updated and changed my site to what I believe is a bit sleeker of a look! Can I get some opinions on the new look?

What do you mean to bloggish? Could you be more specific? The reason I liked it was because it displayed the image 1 at a time which allowed easy viewing of the photos because when other images are surrounding an image it feels distracting

I liked the spread of photos and then you can click on one to have it take over. With the one at a time theme it can be a while before you find a photo you want to look at closer. With the old theme you had like 9 or more photos visible whereas this theme you have 2 tops.

On the right there is a button labled "Archive" It will give that view you are talking about. Should I label the button something else so people realize what it does? Also light or dark theme? Here is the dark version..

Clicking on archive doesn't do anything for me, just gives a blank page.

Looks like it was blurred in the photoshop in a slipshod manner:

Meh. It spoils the other good pictures.

The design of the site is fine afaic, and some of the photos are really great - some of your nature shots are brilliant and I really like the portrait of the old man near the top, but most of your other portraits just look like snaps and kind of spoil the overall impression you get from the page.

Personally, I'd just dump those shots, make the portfolio a bit more focused on high quality than quantity.

Hope this didn't sound too harsh!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Since all the images go in order could you give me the ones that you think should be dumped by just giving me numbers in a list?

Just post something like

Dump:
1
5
7
12

I really appreciate the feedback! I don't find it harsh at all because this is the type of criticism I am looking for.

Ok, take this with a pinch of salt obviously, art is subjective and all that, but these are the ones that I'd take out personally. I've put some in brackets, these ones are either just not to my tastes (so you might just want to ignore me completely there xD) or at least look like actual photographs rather than holiday snaps.

4,(7),9,(10),(11),13,18,19,20,21,(25),30,(36),(44),(45)

More positively though, I really like 5,23,28,29,43 and 54 the best

Thank you for the feedback! I will look through those and pick some to dump. I'm new to the whole portfolio thing and have been doing photography for a year and teaching myself everything so it is nice to get feedback on my work. I'll post after I dump some of the photos and finish updating the site
