Hey guys!

I was wondering what shops have the most expensive designer PC's, High end machines and high grade cases. All I know is Alienware and I was wondering if there'd be some other sites out there.
Perhaps some that have cases that look less "teenager'esque" (you know, no overblown led effects and overly futuristic towers.)

I'd suggest you go to a site where you can select your own components, that way you usually get the best prices.

As others have said, the most expensive computers are high end custom built ones (4 way SLI titans is not cheap)

As for pre built systems, Alienware are pretty expensive like you said. High end gaming laptops and ultrabooks can also be pretty expensive.

Apple

Anyone remember L-Computers? (Go-L) Lot of hype with a really cool system running customized version of Windows, but never delivered.

Quote: "4 way SLI titans is not cheap"

Over $4k!

Are you looking just for fun? Or you really wanna waste money? Cause the highest end machines could be built much cheaper yourself.

Cyberpowerpc is a good site that allows you to customize a lot of stuff. Otherwise I recommend building it from scratch on NewEgg/Amazon/etc.

Which is sad because the Titan is outperformed by both the 780Ti and the R9-290X.

Driver support for Linux is pretty "meh", but I believe Nvidia are continuously updating their drivers for the platform so it could be ok.

Water would work way better because it has a much higher thermal conductivity than alcohol (about 3x as much).

My system is water-cooled with a Corsair H55. Temperature difference over stock fan/heatsink weren't really any different. But overclocking to near 5GHz is when I saw it start to do it's job. I didn't overclock with stock fan, but I doubt it would've handled it at that speed.

For fun actually, apologies that some of you thought I'd be looking to buy, I wasn't clear about this. I was just wondering if there are some small companies out there that build the "rolls royce" of PC's but there really isn't that much in that direction.

I handpick components for my own PC's myself and my brother is quite good at getting everything up and running! The only thing I'd be interesting to acquire is a more decorative case as my computer components will still hold up for the next 2 to 3 years

Quote: "Meijin Ice and Fire"

Neat components. ...but that case is the definition of everything I dislike about "gamer rigs". It looks like the packaging of some 13 year olds RC toy.

If I where looking, I'd rather buy Phaelax's System.

Like you, I dislike most "gamer" rigs and hate side windows. For myself, I use an Antec P180. But for the above build, I think I like the Corsair 330R.

13 year olds RC toy has a cheap sticker on a plastic. Aerography is not a cheap sticker:

Also same PC without aerography (~10% cheaper)

Quote: "I dislike most "gamer" rigs and hate side windows"

That front window shows coolant level. Absolutely useless.

As I understood, "gamer rigs" mean leds and water cooling? I like the case, but I can't afford it.

P.S. I don't like this aerography, I'd prefer game characters.

C-C-C-COMBO P.S.! Just think of it - to buy hardware for $7000 and hide everything inside to achive look of $500 PC. Eh?

edit: I have not noticed that I was arguing to Wolf, the topic starter. Sorry, dude!

Show to myself? To my dog? If I have such PC, it would stand on my table, not on the street. And I will be the one who will be looking at the expensive guts of the PC. You missed something.

Maybe 'Ice and Fire' is a bit "teenager'esque", but version without aerography it definitely okay. At least I've never saw a guy who don't put in the leds if he have water cooling inside. Need I say that such PC are don't standing under the table?

I read "most expensive designer PC's" as most expensive designer PC's, where I believe "designer" means not just buying standart case and putting expensive hardware in it. Average amount of bells and whistles is good! There are lots of extra neat things (aside from leds) to make your PC be better for you. Also this case don't have LED display in front, that's odd for that cost.

And, to sum up my two extremely edited posts: I LIKE LEDS MUA HA HA

p.s. CORSAIR Hydro Series H55 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler. 120mm
Looks pretty cheap. No offence as we are talking about expensive stuff.

No, but it has a very young flair to it. Would you take a guy who rides this "flames" bike seriously? I mean, aerography can look cool if not overdone.

Quote: "Also same PC without aerography (~10% cheaper)"

Decent!

Quote: "where I believe "designer" means not just buying standart case and putting expensive hardware in it."

Jupp! I should have elaborated on that. I ment some other things than those plastic-side windows, flashy lights and generally everything that makes your rig look like a spaceshipdesign from the 80s.

There are a lot of (functionally)futuristic looking Net and Notebook designs coming out lately and more and more elegant smartphone cases so I was wondering if someone would produce this kind of stuff for PC... but apparently there isnt much like this on the market. Most look like something from a cyberpunk flick and that just looks off with the rest of my furniture.

Silverplated, chrome and gold (perhaps some wooden furnishing elements?) instead of blue Leds and Plastic

Since my description up here is still lackluster, here are some pictures. These are cars but I'm sure you can get "the idea"

What I want:

Whats available:

Nope, its a testament to human maturity.
Just kidding! I just don't get the appeal of that entire flashy, loud, urban sorta carmodding cult. (and whats with holding up 3 fingers?)

If you want a case with style look no further than the Corsair 900D, (the 650D is also a great case and my second pc uses that case) this is my case, the build quality is amazing and the thing looks very nice. It is plain and simple not over done like so many other cases.

http://www.corsair.com/us/pc-cases/obsidian-series-pc-case/obsidian-series-900d-super-tower-case.html

It's expensive for a case but so worth it for water cooling with rigs that may have multiple GPUs.

I like the one The Next posted. It's simple and stylish, and doesn't look like it was designed by some hyperactive child that needs flashing lights and stickers.

Quote: "Huh? West Coast Customs is now a Kindergarden?"

Well, they are obviously catering to the older teenage audience. It's like when teenagers install neon lights on their cars, or a wing. They think it looks cool but in reality it just looks kiddy and cheap.

That is a sweet case The Next. Very nice.

My current case is a bit more flashy but it's still muted compared to a couple of those other cases(no side window, limited LEDs).

Some geeks would. Not me, if I were to go for a more custom look I'd probably go for something a little Steam Punk, but I imagine it would be expensive and I probably don't have the skill to pull it off.

Instead, this is what I've got (Xigmatek Asgard):

OK, the one mounted on the wall? Epic! I saw something similar not too long ago, a guy had an old PC lying around (we're talking from the just-released XP days!), and wasn't sure what to do with it. So he scavenged around and replaced the dead parts, then extracted everything and slapped it into a frame, mounted it and it looked pretty cool! Can't remember where I saw it, though...

This gives me an idea for a future computer I want to build.
