I'm playing with the Spine demo, and was wondering if we would need to purchase Spine to make the animations to use in AGK2, or if the Spine commands in AGK2 will let us "roll our own" as it were.

I think that, as long as your 'roll our own' file is of the proper format, AppGameKit should work with it.

I am not an expert in this at all. But that just makes sense to me.

I guess a better question would be "If I make something in Spine, can AGK2 import the spine file?"

Well, I think that is the intent. But I also think they have been working with the current version of Spine, not the one that has a KickStarter for Spine V2.

AGK will not be importing the Spine savefiles if that's what you are asking. AppGameKit will import Spine Export files (JSON and atlas). You will need to purchase at least the "Essential" licence of Spine for $60.

I may add a spine export option to my SpriteFX tool at some point (which will always be free I have decided) but some of the future features of Spine including freeform deformation might not be possible from my tool...

Thanks bax, that's the info I was looking for. I was hoping your SpriteFX would be the way to go, but I may get Spine and use 'em both!

Spine's a fine tool. SpriteFX was getting there and may still as I'm still using it but I haven't got the time I used to have...
