Started mine already:

No more alcohol
Eat less fatty foods
Get into better shape (I cycle a lot already, I want to start going for runs)
Complete the development of a game and have it published
Try my best to talk more and use more creative vocabulary (this probably all depends on my mood/mental state xD)

Short, sweet and achievable haha.

All right, here's mine.

-Continue to lose weight - lost 2stone 5lbs so far. Christmas may offer a gain, so lose that and then some.
-Get back into Karate & exercise more.
-Finish a project or two -> hand code a website AND a game
-Get a job either in programming or writing or both - heck, get a better job than working in a call center
-Expand my programming knowledge
-Beat a really, really hard boss in a video game

All achievable. My diet's working, I already exercise more than I used to, as I am losing weight and getting thinner, Karate is then achievable. I can finish a website as I'll be doing one for NaGaCreMo, then my MS Certification should hopefully aid me in getting the job I want, having something to show with it will help. This will in turn offer more stable hours and I am focusing less on getting another job and focusing more on personal projects and time too boost my programming knowledge. I still play video games in my spare time to wind down, so I will prolly find a difficult boss.

Seppuku, I'd recommend F1 2013 as a source for a hard boss. Think of a track as the boss and to beat it you must get the perfect time with no off time from the track, using a Xbox 360 controller if on PC. If you can do that, I'm sure you'll feel great. I've been playing it most of today as I bought it on steam in the sales, it looks really nice and is kind of relaxing, for a time anyway xD.

I'm currently trying to beat Titan Hard Mode on FFXIV:ARR, I've done 7 runs with people so far and have only managed to at best get him to 50%, but I am using pick-up groups so they tend to make things harder, my most co-ordinated group was today, but after you get him down to 50%, people seem incapable of dodging attacks and that's when it really falls to pieces. I'm a healer and I'm quite good at dodging - usually only get hurt when there's lag, the tricky part is actually other players.

Given last week's update introduced Titan Extreme Mode along with Extreme versions of Garuda and Ifrit, so they're going to be fun!

However, not played a good racing game for a while, so may take the recommendation.

1) Get into university
2) Start projects I can finish and keep them separate from projects I use to experiment and learn from. (I've been getting better at this.)
3) Find a way to be self-employed.
4) Learn more C++ and Javascript. (Make something with both.)
5) Continue experimenting with procedural generation and follow my dream of making a procedurally generated universe.
6) Write more music and poetry.

yeah, ok I need to set some.

1: I need to fight lethargy, this is a big one. A 24hr/7 day completely random timetable has reduced me to sleep, work and bare minimum training to keep me ticking over. -this is unacceptable. there is too much to be done.

2: I want to learn AKG2 and be competent in its use by the end of the year.

3: I bought myself an Arduino Micro-controller beginner kit. - I want to become proficient with micro-controller programming and basic electronics assembly by next year.

4: I bought a banjo a month ago. I want to shred like a redneck by next Christmas.

5: I want to convince my instructor I am worthy of being taken on for second dan.

Burn retina, burn!

6) Finish and Publish my D6K Table Top game
7) Get the first Alpha tests out of my super AppGameKit project, Paradox
8) Finish all the house/shop renovations
9) Run away to the beach for a weekend

I have a good bit of resolutions. I will actually DO THEM this year instead of just half-assing them, too!

- Become more active (go for walks in the park, go jogging, things like that)
- Take and complete online game design/programming courses (I'm already doing this, but there's more I want to take!)
- Study up on math (it's amazing how much you forget after not using it everyday for four years )
- Become a Unity guru
- Obtain Unity Pro somehow (through legal means, of course!)
- Go out and meet more people
- Learn and play more guitar
- Produce more videos, get better at editing and learn more about photography
- Halfway through 2014, ask some girl to a cup of coffee. Try to get myself back out there.
- ...
- Profit!

I would say "refer back to 2013"; but that would be a bit lazy of me.

(In no particular order)

- Re-Learn 3D Art, with an empahsis on game-ready asset creation.

- Gain a rudimentary knowledge of scripting as a whole.

- Get the house in order and clean (seems to never-end; but there is a finality I can live with).

- Get in better shape/establish a "do-able" regimen.

- Eat better, with more appropriate proportions (coupled with cooking more myself). I want to learn the basics of cooking properly, then expand to a bit more complex dish.

- Establish a good meditation regimen.

- Read much more than I do currently. My vernacular has suffered over the years because of it.

- Form a basic foundation for a possible shot at my own LLC (not necessarily this year; but in the not-too-distant future).

- Spend much more quality time with my Family.

- Pay more attention to my overall health and well-being.

- Work MUCH less overtime at my job.

Although it's a big list, I think small bites here and there from each category is doable. We may all fail and falter in our endeavors; but the day we stop trying, is the day it's over for us.

-Keith

1.) [edited by mod] Its time to get in a serious, longlasting relationship which is why I will...
2.) Ask out that cute bookseller-lady I've been meaning to
3.) Exercise more! I've been getting lazy recently.
4.) 3 hot meals a day. Also: Cooking more regulary for myself.
5.) Spending more extra time to help around the house at my moms.
6.) Studying in more frequent intervals and over longer timespans.
7.) Way more painting, studying more about art, getting into oilpainting.
8.) Become an early riser and keep it up through the entire year.
9.) Save half of my income... less spending.

- Finish editing my book and publish it (editing 50% done!)
- Make a game that's not Pman (I have so many I wanna make)
- Finish a really great app I started
- Try and get back up to date with the gaming world
- Continue to improve my Linux knowledge
- Finish my visual novel's script and beat my talented friend into doing some art for me, even if we only release a chapter one demo
- Finish writing my second novel, edit and publish it (maybe others too)
- Actually get around to learning SDL2.0 (seems straight-forward)
- Get more involved with fan-culture again (I avoided this for years because of some nasty experiences I had back when I was younger but a friend of mine told me I should give them another try since he's made some good friends through it).
- Learn as much as I can about... everything!

Disclaimer: I can only confidently say I'll finish number one on that list.

@Seppuku: If you want a tough boss, get a free game called "Cave Story" / "Doukutsu Monogatari" (Original Japanese name). The game's fairly easy so long as you have a gamepad but the final part (provided you unlock the right stuff) is hell on earth. I'm refering to the PC version -- the original -- of course.

Does anybody else make a list that they keep on their desk to remind them? I'm going to write it up tomorrow (there's a few more I want to add as well), and it will get taped to either my desk itself or the edge of the monitor (where I'll more likely see it). Also, a copy will be made in EverNote so I can cross things off digitally, too.

That's a good idea. Perhaps I should write a new "Remind me of my resolutions" app, that just pushes reminder notices at random times throughout the year. It would make a great piece of demo code. Plus I've never tried to do Apple Push Notifications or Android notifications, it will be interesting to see what's involved.

Dude, why are you waiting 6 months to do that?!?

Mine:

- Browse these forums more.
- Complete my SodaBeam prototype app on iPhone. It's about 40% done now.
- Complete my mobile game prototype that I've been working on with my buddy.
- Convince my girlfriend to move back to Canada. She's a flight attendant in Dubai and I miss her.

Because by then it will have been a year since my ex dumped me, and hopefully I'll be able to stop thinking about it so much by then. I'm just afraid that if I went ahead and asked someone out now (which is actually impossible because I haven't really met someone new yet), it would be a bit too soon.

But, if I happen to meet someone sooner than that, and I end up really liking them, who knows what might happen then!

I've been here for years, come on man, we might as well just get it over and done with, you know it's meant to be.

Added an 11th goal, open an Etsy shop. Which I've done. I like to work with my hands and thought it would make for a nice hobby on the side building random handmade items.

But again, I have to meet somebody. All of my current female friends either live WAAAY far away, or are in a relationship or married. Plus, I wouldn't really consider going with any of them because they're not exactly my type.

ANYWAY, enough of this being about my relationship life!

Hmmmm.

1. Get off my behind and actually start learning something useful about game design. Time to stop thinking about it and actually sit down and trudge through some tutorials!

2. Make it through the transition to college. It's going to be tough, living on my own and such, but it's a part of life and I better start looking into my financial situation!

3. Maintain a high enough GPA, high school is almost through, can't stop now.

4. Make it another year with the girlfriend. Made it one so far, next November makes another. Baby steps.

5. Start actually getting involved in the community here. Having basically lurked for almost 5 years now, you'd think I'd be a little closer to the usuals her at TGC. Too bad I'm a poor conversationalist.

6. Consider joining my dojo again. My hobbies right now are far too unconstructive, and I've made too much progress to just quit it all. Two years break is long enough, time to stop thinking about it and just do it. :d

That's about it, seems like such a small list but chances I'll follow through with all of this stuff are nearly slim.

Howdy to anybody that remembers me.

[edit] Just started reading through the posts in the thread so far, only to see Sepp looking to get back into karate as well. How many times have we discussed this over the years, let's just get off our butts and find a way to do it already.

Well, I just beat a hard one. Titan (Hard Mode) in FFXIV:ARR, the hardest bit was the fact I was grouping up with randoms of varying skill levels, which can really make things difficult, especially if you're a healer like me.

My win:

Now, my next targets are the extreme modes, of which there are: Garuda, Titan and Ifrit, Ifrit I believe being the hardest of the extreme modes.

Of course, I will aim for other hard bosses, but it's what I'm playing at the moment.

- Become a Guru in Blender!

I've been meaning to learn more about it for years, and now that I have the determination to make games again, now seems like a good time to learn it!

This year I want to finish at least one project in dbPro. And so that will be my resolution.

Last year I decided to not wear socks at all, ever. Even now, I still don't >.>

IS that a game, a program, or 3 year old drawing.

Update: Book is edited at 62.xxxx% so I'll definitely succeed. The others, well, I'll prolly flake but still.
