Geek Culture / No sound on laptop after windows update

Windows did an update and now I don't have sound, even through my headphones. I did a system restore but it didn't fix it.

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite P750.

EDIT: Fixed it. I swear the audio sounds worse than before but at least I have it.

Yep. I get system sound but youtube and media player don't play sound.

I had this problem with my desktop when I've reinstalled a million times - installing something called VIA HD audio deck fixed the problem if I recall.

If the sound works but Mplayer/YouTube doesn't, prolly codecs. VIA HD audio prolly installs the right codecs and does the associations, I wouldn't know as I use CCCP and Winamp (dunno what audio codecs they install but never let me down).
