Well, what are you trying to make? Know what you want to accomplish first. Then break it down into different sections.

Goal: to make Breakout

smaller tasks to accomplish the bigger one:
code to create and position bricks
code to move ball around and bounce it
code to handle collision

Understand what I'm saying? It's easy to get overwelmed at first. But it helps if you just break things down to an easier level.

Hey Battosaibry,

Have you coded before, or is this your first Basic learning experience? If it's your first and you are losing your programming virginity on this one who better to lose it with then with one of Lee Bambers books.

Lee popped my programming cherry with one of his books back in the Amiga day's and I still have benefits from it. Actually I wanna buy more of his books and start a cult. Forget that second part, I wanna buy more of his books hehe period. Next to that I highly recommend grabbing the manual every chance you get. Also, if it's the 3D stuff you are having difficulties with just mess around with it. Try having the camera move on its own, not with cursor keys, have objects placed around and notice when you see them in the screen and when not.

I know it sounds silly but it definatly worked for me that way, and right now I'm working on my own golf game which features a camera in a chopper and you can view its 'on board camera' with keypresses. Well here I am, like half a year ago I still didn't know where to find the rear end of my objects, but like I said it worked for me.

Gaming books can be really great, and Lee's are the best. I remember also some stuff in there on how to be a true programmer, like listening to critisism, how to make a game plan etc. I still use this book occasionaly for DarkBasic too. Find books like that, learn, you'll enjoy learning from there because hey, whats more fun than making your own games?

I cant think of anything, really. Well, except for what I do with my boyfriend at night, but kids read here too. *coughs* And I didn't need Lee to learn about that. *giggles*
