Hi. I realize that all of the awesome programs that you can make with DB are license and royalty free and my question may seem like a really stupid one, but better safe that sorry, right? Are all of the media files, like objects and all that free too? If not what's an inexpensive modeling program I can get to make my own stuff?

To tell you the truth that isn't a stupid question. Not all media files may not be free with some sites you have to pay. Here are some links for free 3d stuff

www.3dcafe.com
www.amazing3d.com
www.3dlinks.com

if are looking for a cheap modelling program it would be Blender, but I don't think that Darkbasic support their format, but the best of all it's free. here's the site www.blender.org

Thanks. By the way, are all of those free zipped files at 3dcafe.com in the db format. Also, are the objects that come with dark basic free for use?

I don't think that Darkbasic has a db format for graphics, not that I know of, but the 3d objects on the darkbasic website are made out of the .3ds format and the directx format. Darkbasic supports .3ds format and .xof(direct x) format. The ones that comes with darkbasic are free to use! Just don't say that you made them yourself.

Ive heard Milkshape(free) is pretty good although i use 3D Studio Max 5. and there is no "DB format" as such, DB supports .X and .3ds(just about), but i would stick to .X which is pretty snazzy

I'm makin' a cake...

Milkshape is 20 bucks. 3DS Max is usually overkill and its 3000 dollars...so I dont see why everyone likes it so much when milkshape or truespace is the most you would need for db.
