I can't remember if there was one or two different ways to doing just one simple thing.

In one hand, you could add a storyzone to the level and make some changes (Dont remember what sequence or exact changes) to make text show up on screen and guide or "Aid" the player with this script.

however. This wasn't the method i used when i first toyed with this method of adding text to screen.

Wasn't there another way to adding text to the screen, via approaching a terminal at a pre-specified distance and then make the text show?. Correct me if I'm wrong..

There are two ways - either use the fpgcrawtext commands or make a huh and trigger both of the given things using a trigger.

I dont think thats the way i did it last time :\ Ok, i took an FPI script, loaded it in to a terminal entity, and when i approached it. It made an image holding the text or im assuming the text itself pop up on the screen. I dont remember. I think someone showed me this trick a long time ago but i forgot it.

As Mriganka said, there are two ways to do it. You either create a HUD with the text on it or you use the built-in fpgcrawtext commands. Either way you need to create a script for the entity that handles the choice. If you click my sig you'll find a little app called textease that will manipulate the fpgcrawtext for you. You can either use it to create your FPE's or create one to learn/work from and make your own.

DISCLAIMER: This was written years ago in VB6, so the installer is a bit antiquated. If it tells you that the files on your system are newer than the files you're trying to install, choose to keep the files on your system. If you're not comfortable with the choice, cancel the install. I don't want to make you nervous.

Brian.

This software piece is not exactly what I'm looking for. Is there an FPI script that shows an image or something if you get to close to a terminal?

I'm pretty certain it was covered in this thread, or in the official community guide. For that matter, you can look at a stock script (such as the ones attached to a remote door switch) to get an idea of how to display a hud when approaching an object such as a terminal.

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

I guess I'm a little confused as to what you actually want Skynet Games. The software I referenced creates ...
Quote: "FPI script that shows an image or something if you get to close to a terminal"

and the FPSC scriptbank folder has ...
Quote: "FPI script that shows an image or something if you get to close to a terminal"

such as "dooruse.fpi".

If that's not what you want you'll have to be more specific.

Hi blackfox!, could you please check your messages by hitting the chat bubble on your browser?. I sent you a PM, and still haven't herd from you, regarding this topic.

But i guess, i can ask it in here since it pertains to FPSC. Do you still have that tutorial you sent me, regarding the approach terminal FPI. I kinda forgot how to do this
