Does any one require a practical application that does a specific job? My little company thingy really just makes applications, not exactly games. Any one?

The ANSWER is out there- but where?

I need one that stops my mum coming up the stairs and laying weird jobs on my ass when im excited about DBP around her. You see to her DBP is all double dutch and when i go nuts about an effect in total descriptive glee she looks at me in this practical way and makes me take out the trash or something.
dam me for saying yes to my office in my mums loft!

A good way to decide on a new project is to look at the state of affairs and see what people are having problems with. Take a look around the forum and look for common ailments, then think about ways that an app could make life easier.

We don't need no matrix editors, world editors, or IDE's.

There is a distinct lack of art packages and music programs, I reckon DBPro is perfectly capable for making stuff like this and it'd be nice to see more apps that are fun to use and are more creative.

Indi,

some kind of paint program would be pretty cool, quite a challenge aswell, getting layers and transparency to work, and maybe making your own file format which could be loaded into db.

A working MIDI file creator/modifier would be very nice.

That's because there are hundreds of 2D word editors out there already...

Photoshop
Paint Shop Pro
Paint

Just to name a few...

That's not what i mean. I know you can make a level with that but it's only the "look" if you know what i mean. The code to make the collosion and stuff. I can't find an editor for that.

Ah.. That's because it's alot more dificult than in 3D, i believe.

But, it would be a good, original project to undertake, DWR.

I once tried to make a midi sequencer. I quit very early on in its production. Basically, I got tired of reading about how many different midi formats there are.

You could always make something for me so when my little bro starts playing with files on my computer it sends a data packet to his computer telling it to wipe his hard-drive.

Ok so its not a mouse.

Simple app that would be used.....

A .wav file editor

there are free ones, but they all have annoying pop-ups...
It does not need to be robust. Just useful :
do these few things:
play a selected sound (thats too easy)
Pick start/stop points (also too easy)
Save the sound from start to stop point (woops, tuff one)
Add Faid in/out to start/end of sound (tuffy too)
Add sound to beginning/end or middle (combining .wav files)
Modify default sound play rate
(Too complex here. Basically, play a sound faster/slower and save the resulting sound)

Then if you start getting fancy you could support multiple file formats....

The .wav editor, I have used a few free ones, and I agree, they are pretty shocking, but I use a built in one for Nero Burning Rom...

It's really good, and very versatile...

To get it, just click and drag an audio file into the window where you burn files, then, there are buttons up the top, saying "Play" and there should be one saying "Edit" click it, and you get the audio editor... Voila...

Hope I Helped...

Here are some ideas.

Just like in povray people make interfaces that spit out code for certain aspects.

Eg: a Rapid application development for say matrices that allows you to enter in information into fields then pressing a make code button you can see at a glance the code it spits out.

a 3d modle editor where you take a picture in 3 angles (top, side, front) and it makes a 3d modle out of it....... it could happen

what would make it easier is if they were standing in front of a solid color (like green or blue). Then it would be even remotely possible for a "little company thingy" to make.

For the wav suggestion, you can hack in and get rid of those popups - no problem, but it is a decent idea!! Thanks!!

Really, really, really good wave editor
http://www.goldwave.com
You can use it for free, but Chris Craig deserves to be paid for this. It edits:
Wave.wav
MPEG.mp3
OGG.ogg
SUN.au
Voc.voc
Raw.snd
Raw.raw
apple.aif
apple-c.afc
amiga.iff
matlab.mat
dialogic.vox
diamond.dwd
samplevision.smp
midi_sample.sds

what if instead of making apps, you made plugins for DB and DBP.

here are some Ideas:
make plugins to add some features that are in DBP to DB (like sprite animations)
I am looking for a way to get the computer to adapt/learn, you could make a plugin that would do that automaticly.

I am not you
