you need to better explain exactly what you want. If writing a game for a LAN, you don't need any outside program because DB/DBPro can do it. If coding for PC to PC with/without firewalls, DB/DBpro can do it but it gets more complicated and requires an exprienced network admin to work out firewall problems. Or you could simply spend a few hours with tech support setting things up. That what I do. Its not fun, but sometimes its the only way to learn exactly how a FW works.
If trying to connect from a PC on a LAN to another PC on a different LAN ..... forget it. Possible but expensive.
Besides, I thought you got DB to write games anyway.Focus on what you know and see if you can find someone to help with the parts you don't know. At least until you have a game that can be played offline that you wish to play online.... then its time to go to school again.
