Is there any easy way to create 3d extruded Text?

I thought about creating each letter as a model, but
that seems excessive. It would be nice if there was a
way to select a font and extrude it and use it as a
set of models.

Anyone know of an easy way to do that?

There is no way that i can think of doing it, unless you get tricky with some plains and stuff, but that could take days to sort out...

You're better off just making the models, sorry...

Hope I Helped...

in most 3d modelling packages you can type out a letter/word/whatever and then extrude that flat text into a 3d object and save it as one of db's supported formats.

is a good free modeller for something like this

Yes its possible, just use memblocks and each letter would be made up of a bunch of plains for sides. Moggie100 made a memblock text program that displayed text as spheres...

there is a milkshape tool
you go to tools menu select 3d text
select your font, bold, italic, underline, size, and the text u want
then it puts it as a model in the thing
