********************

All those of you who have viewed and know about my WIP thread for Paint Pot Lite, I have decided to have a go at doing a crowd funding Kickstarter project for the full version.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1516183818/paint-pot-kids-coloring-book

I am hoping some of you will help even if it is to spread the word with the above link in order for me to reach the goal!!

This is quite exciting and all I can say is that it is worth you having a try yourself
At the end of the day, what have you got to lose.

Thanks for reading and check out the project, fingers crossed and toes lol

Also backed I got a MacBook Pro to publish to the app store, I can recommend them very highly if you're successful but it won't leave you much change.

Good luck!

Looks good.

It might be worth adding a music track and voiceover to the video. It will add another level of professionalism.

Fiverr.com has artists willing to do up to 60 seconds for $5. I use them, and break up the sound bytes, you can make 60 seconds of voiceover last 3 minutes. Here's an example. If you drop me an email at "batvink at gmail.com" I can send you a link for a free gig.

Good luck with it.

@baxslash thanks for your support I really appreciate it and here's another virtual beer! Cheers
I put a modest amount on the kickstarter in order to just have enough to do everything. If it is successful then kickstarter take a cut as well as VAT. Some of the projects are asking silly amounts but I tried to be more realistic Thanks again!

@BatVink thanks, glad you like the project, it took a bit of time for setting it out and wording but think I got it right.
The clip is quite short but will have a look at the site you mention, I forgot about music though, when I recorded the video on my tablet although I set sound recording on it didn't record for some reason.
I will add the music back in and update. The music for the game was made by a mate of mine who has played at the C64 event back in time a few times now and its a good kids tune that you can't get out of your head once you have listened to it a few times

Again thanks to all with help and support and please spread the word

Thing is it is one of those tunes that you can't get out of your head once you have heard it a bit lol

Well 3 backers so far and £25 so on the way, another £975 to go haha

Help spread the word

Good luck with this, I just backed it so you now only have £970 to go But you're right, there's nothing to lose going down this route.

My phone pinged as I was looking at the table Big thanks for that £970 and counting lol

Here's another virtual beer cheers!

You are right with the nothing to lose part because the video is showing over 60 views already so at least it is getting coverage.

It's my son's successful Kickstarter. He created the video for his band and A-level course. I just turned it into a teaser-trailer with a $5 voiceover.

Nice work

My daughter is thinking of doing a similar thing but for her photography/Photoshop work as she is doing A'levels at the moment leading on to uni.

Very talented the kids these days!

I think the key is to not ask for too much, you can see some on there are very greedy asking for silly amounts with stupid pledges.

I have put the minimum amount to hopefully cover equipment, app store fees, time to do pictures and even to upgrade the website hopefully with a proper .com site address etc.
As you will know, you obviously don't get the full amount as there is a 3 to 5% Kickstarter fee and then vat which will be 20%

I have learned one thing about Twitter... create a separate email address just for Twitter, because twits like to spam!

Quote: "Still at 6% 5 days in, not looking promising but worth a try"

Still 25 days left, so plenty of time for last days procrastinators, or people on tight budgets.

Quote: "Please spread the word"

Where is Oprah when you need her?
Will do, but you have more twits following you than I do, so not sure my word will go very far with the little birdies.

Seriously though, hopefully the pledgers will help spread the word, and Fridays or weekends should be your best spike times if people are waiting for a payday to participate.
You are actually doing well for the first few days, so don't get discouraged.

Cheers

I have put the link for PowToon in the business section, it is really good and has lots of effects and different characters.

The only thing is you have to pay a monthly fee for HD features etc but for small YouTube clips its great.

Had some advice from a Kickstarter forum and have changed reward structure slightly and prices have come down to a more realistic level.

If anyone knows of people who may want their company logo in the game or on the apps stores then spread the word as prices are very low now

@3d point in space, cheers for your pledge. Little star and virtual beer added
Hey just think the calories you've saved from not getting that McDonalds meal
Thanks again and appreciated!

As it stands I am at 10% funded with 20 days left and someone has just changed their £10 pledge to a £30 to get the picture in the game since I lowered the prices so fingers and toes crossed again.

Could do with some £60 and £100 pledgers for company sponsors now and will be good.
Getting a bit stuck thinking of appropriate blogs and companies to contact to get interested and spreading the word.

Well nothing further although there is time left.
I am not holding my breath with this and it is all good experience.

So far if nothing else this kickstarter campaign has improved my downloads from the App stores and mainly Amazon for some strange reason.

I have had a few pledges from people on Twitter although I must admit I thought I would have had more. I am waiting results from Facebook Ads as I thought I would try boosting a post to see where that leads to and if it is worth it.

I have posted on a few parenting blogs so will need to see if anything comes from that.

I think if I was to try this again sometime I would do a lot more posting on blogs etc before actually pressing the launch button to try and get people talking about it.

What I have found is that even though there are pledges starting at £1, it is damn hard to get people to part with their money even though I have been getting good feedback etc from the free lite version of the app.

So I am £105 in with £895 to go with around 2 weeks left lol.
I could do with 895 people who don't mind throwing £1 away at me haha

Well to update regarding Facebook Ads post boosting, lol its a waste of time

The post got 33 likes and 45 site clicks but weirdly no page likes which was what I thought I was doing it for lol
So 33 post likes, no page likes and no Kickstarter interest other than downloads of free lite version lol

Lesson? That was waste of £21 haha

People really do find it hard to part with even a quid

Cheers, it was quite a laugh doing it too. We must have done 50 takes in between the laughing!

Made the video in PowToon again and put the music clip in then created the voiceover clips in sections for each frame recording in Audacity.

I then just stuck all the clips together looking at the full time of the PowToon clip and loaded this into the voiceover section in PowToons.

It was relatively straight forward.

Done yet another revamp putting some of my educational titles on there from the Amiga days and I think............well not sure lol but think I have it looking pretty good now

I have also mentioned on there about the range of educational titles I will be doing so people know that it is not just Paint Pot and give up.

Now need £699!!!

Got to say that this is quite exciting but damn exhausting trying to keep up with everything

God knows how you managed it TGC with the AGK2 and Game Guru Kickstarters and the amount of pledgers you had!
