Hello,

I Want to build a flight simulator in Dark Basic but for start
I must know how to write a code for simple flight, including
turnning like a real plane. I'll be happy if somebody give me idea how to do it or at least give me a link.

Thank you,
Jacob

Look at the free flight example in the DB help files, that'll give you a start on you're controls, then come back later when you have more code worked out...

Hope I Helped...

I was also trying to write a flight simulator. I looked at the free flight example, but you object can only yaw and can stop completely in mid air. I understand that the tutorials wouldn't just give you a finished program, but I still can't figure out the phyisics used to make the plain roll and turn at the same time, and thus banking. I've tried telling the object to use the roll object right, and roll object left commands and at the same time telling it to turn but it skrews all up.

thanx

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

what you do, is you make up and down arrows control pitch, and left and right arrows control roll, then when you roll, you change your pitch to turn. This is a VERY basic engine though, with no laws of physics.

Am I an Idiot...or is everyone else just really smart?

just so you know doucan in a plane when you roll it you must change the pitch of it not turn it in order to make it turn since the free flight commands are based on the object not the whole world. you would need to roll it left then pitch it up to make it turn left. i have a very basic flight sim program in the codebase that includes a stall effect.

PS - If you want me to help you i would gladly accept the help.

we are not outnumbered! we are just in a target rich enviroment!

Search Physics in the professional forum - I posted a link that has (if you are thinking of going realistic) all the math for a real flight sim physics..... if you are only tinkering... don't bother....go find it you'll see what I mean. Its a page of just formulas...but the guy does explain it as good as one can

If ya cant find it mail me I'll get ya...

Sorry...I'm busy looking for PLUG IN example (make DLL) supposed to be a tutorial here somewhere
