Before We Start:
This is an Unofficial competition, which is being held by the members of this forum, Therefore, there are no prizes/benefits/anything for having the best snippet.

Intro:
This is a competition to see who can produce the best Artificial Intelligence snippet from within DarkBASIC ( Preferably Classic, but, Pro will be accepted )

Any and All snippets you submit will not be used for any use other than this competition unless explicitly expressed otherwise by you ( the creator ).

Rules:
1)
All snippets entered must be related in a major way to AI ( Artificial Intelligence ).

Edited Jan 10 '04:
2)
Your AI ( Artificial Intelligence ) snippet must have some purpose, be it a game of tag, or enemies trying to kill you ( the player ).
You are now allowed to enter a snippet that is simply a wandering enemy snippet, but please make it imaginative, otherwise there is not really much point in us judging it.

3)
Post any and all snippets in the "Source Box" area, not in between snippet tags in your post ( This simply makes for easier to read posts )

4)
Entries will be accepted until 29th February 2004 ( 29/2/04 ) Any entries entered after this closing date will be considered void.

5)
When creating your AI ( Artificial Intelligence ) snippet, try not to use external media ( We need to keep this as universal as possible for those that have limited bandwidth for downloads etc. ). If your AI ( Artificial Intelligence ) snippet does require external media please link to it directly ( Or to a containing page linking directly to it ) in your post.

Edited Dec 12 '03:
6)
Please do not discuss snippets/rules/anything in this thread, instead, use the thread entitled Unofficial AI competition to have a talk about any snippets that have been posted, and anything else related to this AI ( Artificial Intelligence ) Competition.

Added Dec 10 '03:
7)
Do not post unfinished/non-working snippets. If you need help debugging etc, post in the thread entitled Unofficial AI competition.

Added Dec 12 '03:
Criteria Of Judging:
Snippets will be judged on the following guidlines:

1) Relevance.
Each snippet entered must relate to AI ( Artificiall Intelligence ) in a major way.
The more it revolves around AI, the better the judged score.

2) Originality.

This is a major idea behind the competition.
The more original the snippet, the better it will be judged, and thus, the better the score recieved.

3) Quality.

The quality of the snippet entered will also factor high in your overall score. ( By "Quality", I mean quality of the AI ( Arificiall Intelligence ) snippet, not quality of graphics/sound etc. )

Notes:
If any of the above rules are not adhered to, your entry will be sorely looked upon and considered for removal.

If you do not own webspace, yet require external files, you can get free webspace from FreeWebs.com.

If you do use external media, keep it to a minimum ( ~500Kb would be sufficient ).

Any rule updates will be added to this post, so check here from time to time to keep up-to-date.

Outro:
Remember, this is an Unofficial competition with no prizes.
But, don't let that stop you from creating a masterpiece!
Go wild, have some fun, and who knows, you may just win...

Enjoy!

Yeah, sure, I'll try to enter. Been working on some AI scripts for my competition entry anyway, could use those and then, its good practice.

Please, follow the rules.

I am refering to rule 6, which I have just updated, I am now asking that noone discuss anything in this thread unless it is posting code. Instead plese use the thread entitled Unofficial AI competition.

This is to keep uneccesarry posts to a minimum.

This should be the last post I have to make of this kind.

Thank you.

Edited Rule 2), from:

Your AI ( Artificial Intelligence ) snippet must have some purpose, be it a game of tag, or enemies trying to kill you ( the player ).
Do not enter any snippets that are just AI for wandering enemies etc.

Again, I say, please do not post in this thread unless it is to do with showing your code for the competition.

If you want to try and get the Moderators to sticky the post ( as I do ) then say it in the other thread.

Thanks,
Jess.
