oki, so Max6 is a great lil update over Max5 ... problem is the UI is totally pissing me off.
Unfortunately I don't have the time to spend editing it up to my preferences

Anyone who has Max6 (i know a few of you either have the demo or non-legal), right now i don't care if you have legit version or not... i just want my UI back to the way it was in 5.
Could someone recreate for me the TAB Modifier menu that could be brought up in 3/4/5 with 'Y' as i hate using the side panel as it's too flipping big and clunky.

I like the side panel to be a floating window i can move around (as this gives me alot more space and editing room.
I also liked having my main action buttons down the side, if anyones use'd maya then they'll understand.

And I'm probably the only person but i prefer the softer darker colours of GMAX.

infact ya know if anyone can actually layout Max's UI like Maya 4.x that would just make my century... i swear i'm using it at the moment on the Mac and it's driving me insane having to keep opening things from the sidebar

Don't have R6 but I agree, the Create/Tab Panel is so useful and convenient!

well i didn't get any work done today... been messing around with Max6 cause we've finally upgraded the machines.

i'm having trouble figuring out howto make tabs, once i figure that out i think i can MaxScript the rest of the ui to Maya style... and then i'll be a bloody happy bunny ^_^

I agree, the max5>6 transition wasnt great for me. I also hate how the grid is less visable now
