yes, thanks eric. your site is my go-to for Jam music.

that said, consider putting "packs" together and posting on itch.io?

the one issue i have with your site is having to hunt for "just the right" one. if there were "packs" of related music, it would make it much easier for users and since itch seems to be where all the kiddies play and create, i think it would be ideal. along with previews of the "packs", i expect your music would be popular there.

You guys are very welcome! I've been considering creating themed music packs, as Virtual Nomad has suggested...it's just a matter of finding the time to make them. Right now I'm having a bit of an issue with the site:

As of this past week, the black and pink buttons on my site that take you to my higher-quality Ogg tracks and packs on Gumroad are not displaying properly nor are they working properly. I am working with my web hosting company to resolve the issue. In the meantime, please don’t use them.

You can still download my tracks freely in mp3 format. The links are under the players for each track.

If you need a particular track or pack in Ogg format, please email me and I’ll send you a direct link to it on Gumroad. My email address is on my homepage.

OGG vs. MP3 TRACKS

For those of you who need looping tracks, I would highly recommend using the Ogg versions of my tracks. Besides sounding richer, Ogg tracks loop better in game engines. The reason for this is that the MP3 encoding process sometimes discards a tiny amount of audio information at the looping point. This causes a noticeable audio gap when the track loops. Mp3 encoding doesn't do this every single time, but it does it enough to be annoying. Ogg encoding doesn't discard any audio information so tracks always loop seamlessly.

In terms of audio quality, the MP3 versions of my tracks do sound very good...that's because the synthesizers I use are all top-of-the-line and produce very high quality sound. Still, the Ogg versions sound even better...almost as good as the original WAV recordings right out of my synths...but are much smaller in file size. WAV files are enormous.

My recommendation is to use my MP3 tracks as placeholders and then replace them with my Ogg tracks once you've decided which music you want to use.

meanwhile, you might consider selling the HQ .ogg files at $1 a piece? i can see that as an option for me where $15 for 60 loopable tracks (i think that's what your loops pack costs?) while i might use 5 = $3 a track and, as i offer mostly free games, that starts to sting a little.

if not, (and i expect it would be a ton of work to set up sale of single tracks at this point?) i've donated in the past and will do so in the future

The Ogg packs are definitely more popular than the individual Ogg tracks at $3.99, but people do purchase them as well which also helps support my site.

And yeah, the MP3 encoding issue can be frustrating. Some game engines seem to be able to deal with it better than others.

When I started creating and sharing my music, the tracks I made were meant for video creators, so looping tracks weren't even on my mind. Once the game developers found me, though, and started asking for looping tracks, it was another story. The Ogg encoding process is sooo much better...when I do client work, I always deliver it in Ogg format.

Anyhow, as always, if anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
