Ok,

Here is my question. I am sure it is one that has been asked a lot before, but please read my post then answer.

Here is what I am facing. I develop software for a living and do software support. I have been developing in Visual Basic since 1998, and I have been developing in Java for the past 2 years.

Anyway I understand that basic langauge and a lot of game development concepts.
(To the point)

What version of Dark Basic should I get. Now for sure it would be a no-brainer. Gof or DBPRO.
But here is the question. Should I spend the money all on DBPRO (it is going to be a christmas gift form my wife!) Or should I get classic and a Game Cube, and then if I like it upgrade later!

Please let me know waht everyone thinks!

Well, download the trial version of both, and see which one is best. DBpro is faster and more powerfull, but a little bit more difficult. I use DBC for a week now, and Im planning to buy DBpro soon

Jopie, try and speak in english so most people can understand what you're saying. You can order DBP off the site, check the button on the top of the page labelled "shop".

@elGappo: It really depends what you are planning to make with it. If you have no experience in making games, I suggest you get DBC, as you most likely wont need the more advanced features of DBP any time soon. However, if you're confident in your skills as a game developer, and want to make powerful, advanced ( commercial even ) games, then DBP is a must.

Cheers,
Kentaree

I would be unstoppable if I could just get started...

Well I know given the right amount of time on a game project I could do it.

I have the skill set, it is just comes down to:

Get one piece of software with more features.
vs
Get Game cube, and a lessor version of the software.

i would get the gamecube and classic, and when you are used to DB and all the syntax and all that, then change to DBPro.

oh yes, look on EBay, they usually have really nice prices.

As this is for home use and a Christmas gift.....
If you are mainly a programmer at home get DBP.
If you are mainly a gamer at home then get the GC.
Only you really know what you want for Christmas.

The more you see, the more you know.
The more you know, the more you see.
