Hey all ,

I was just wondering if there are people out there who understand how these online multiplayer games work and how would I implement one in DarkBasic? I was looking at the commands in the help files and it made me even more confused.

I get the impression that some makes a 3D landscape and keep it on a computer (server), then someone downloads another file which will enable them to create an account and log onto the server housing the game. But I dont understand what data is needed where ad what needs to be done.

Also does anyone know any good multiplayer online gaming tutorials or a webpage that offers this kind of information?

All help would be greatly appreciated, thx guys .
Mark

Nature gave man 2 ends. One to think with, the other to sit on. Mans' sucess depends on which end he uses most!!

I have a tutorial done that demonstrates simple multiplayer conversion for an existing game. I almost sound like I'm spamming here.... I would like to add TutWaffle to the Monster Hunt demo from Lee Bamber. I have based alot of code on that game.

http://home.comcast.net/~norman.perry/TutWaffle.Zip

The full monsterhunt tutorial is in there and alot of my notes.
Also, to see a version in DBPro
http://home.comcast.net/~norman.perry/game.html
and click on DUEL

Viewing both should be very helpful for those that wish to see
how easy it is to update code from DB to DBPro.
Also, TutWaffle was coded using DarkEdit with all precompiler options turned on. Most of the real multiplayer code is located
in include files. This makes locating my changes to the basic
game easy to find. Most of my notes are located in the source.
