As usual I've added performance tracking. At the end of the game, clicking the second joystick or mouse button, or pressing most letter keys and you'll get a chart displaying your best and worst performance times. These times are maintained in the "records.wri" file. The round times are only recorded if you win the round. The recorded game times are compiled by adding all of the times from your winning rounds during the games that you win.

A page detailing the *fastest* Two Flags records is maintained at http://www.heartbone.com/tf/tfr.html. If you ever surpass any record and want your performance posted then e-mail a zip containing your records.wri and TwoFlagsAvatar files, Also include your hometown, for example Newcastle, UK. I'll use the last mod date on your records.wri file. The official records page will be updated every few days, then every week, then every few weeks or as needed.

Ver 1.1 Bugfix. Jan 6, 2004
Fixed the situation where the best and worst recorded times against 4 AI were being written into the 2 AI table on a restart with changed settings.

Peace, the anti-Bush.

Not bad!

---------------------------------

I just fixed the dimming persistance on the inhibited flag. Now it remains dim after an AI picks it up and drops it.

I also forgot to mention that I added a round timer display after each round.

"No more changes are anticipated."

CFS review:
-----------------------------------------
Two Flags
Review date: January 9, 2004
Version reviewed: 1.0
NOTE: the review only pertains to the version/date mentioned above. Subsequent versions could be quite different from the reviewed version.

Review:

Two Flags is a unique game which combines the game of tag with the game of rock/paper/scissors where you must be the first to capture two flags of the same color.

It features up to 4 artificial bots (enemies), choose number of rounds to play, and more.

While it is a puzzle type of game, it also requires some fast manoeuvering to grab the flags and beat your computer opponents.

At first look, the rules and concept seem confusing but once you have mastered the concepts it all makes good sense and you can start to work your way up the high scores list.

We found Two Flags to be challenging and quite addictive, and well worth the download.

(Their screenshot is of the 1.1 version So I assume that they reviewed that and not v1.0 as stated.)

waffle your respected opinion I will eagerly await.

BUT...
I have made some vital bug fixes and I still need to make one more adjustment (damn unreliable DBC sprite collision), so you'll need to download v1.2 and run it after I give the word tomorrow.

There's a new version 1.2 of Two Flags available for download.
- Fixed bad AI logic that caused array and sprite index errors.
- Redid the collision sensing to compensate for compiler bugs (these changes should yield ~ 20% framerate increase).
- Tweaked the display colors.

Peace, the anti-Bush.

OK I played it... its a hard game to win at first.
It "feels" unfair, but probably is fair.

I did have a minor problem with exiting the game...
I wanted to use the mouse but it would vanish over the window.
This is probably a DB issue so don't worry about it much.
With the play area so small, it would be very difficult to play online. 2 things I found most amazing was the intro screens nice,
and the zip size of 1MB ... awsome for a DB game. I seldom get mine under 5MB without alot of struggling.

I think a minor delay at the start of each level would be nice...
Maybe a "ready - set - go" kinda thing to give me time to figure out which color I am and so on....

Also, include a link to your website in the install. It would add only 50 bytes or so but would make viewing your online help easy
and locating the latest version good too. I need to do that with mine too

Could you have a setting where the play area could be expanded?
Not truely important, but a step towards a level editor.
Overall a nice game.

Like the idea of using my own background music.
