I have a headset and want to use it to create voice overes for my game. The problem is I dont know how to record my voice using the headset. Is there any way to do this? do I need to get anything?
thanks in advance.

windows comes with a sound recorder. go the the star menu->programs->accessories->entertainment->sound recorder. If you want better quality and more editing options you can get programs such as Fruity Loops or Jammer. These are more pointed toward music but I couldn't remember the names of the better voice progs off the top of my head and Im to lazy to look. If you are not satisfied with windows' sound recorder just run a search on google or yahoo.

Windows sound recorder is unbelievably bad quality. Records 8bit sound, if you want to record good quality sound and have access to many special features then Id go for Sonic Foundry soundforge, but its pricey..

ZEDWARE website coming soon... //END TRANSMISSION//

yes, as moonshine says, windos' recorder is bad, but depending on what you are doing it is enough. Personally I like jammer for sounds but you probably can find a decent recoder for free on the net. Search on google or yahoo.

I think CoolEdit, 2000 or Pro - prefferably Pro, is an excellent sound studio. Unfortunately, the company was bought out by Adobe I think. There used to be some old shareware versions of each; they were fully functional, but only let you do 1 type of filtering per session. You'd have to record a sound and do all echo filtering (for example), save, quit, open again and do compression filtering afterwards (for another example). You could probably search some file sharing program like Kazaa (Lite) for the sharewares. They're truly worth the searching.

Not sure how functional the demo of this is, but here's the program CoolEdit has become after the merger: http://www.adobe.com/products//audition/main.html

Cooledit is fine, but SoundForge is a more professional (and mor expensive) program. Not sure why you'd want to use FruityLoops for voice editing. To me that's like trying to use Excel to write a letter.

Peace,
Rawlyn.
