ok im pretty good at darkbasic and iv made a multiplayer game but the only problem is darkbasic multiplayer commands arnt powerfull enough so i was thinking how hard would is be to change db code into vb? i guess the basic if then and for next commands will stay thesame(changes in syntax) but what about the other commands liek point object , make object, postion object ect. i have very limited knowledge with vb and im just wondering how screwy it would be to change db to vb or would it be easier just to start fresh??

You probably would have a very difficulat time to convert DB into VB code...

If it's just multiplayer commands that you're having trouble with, get one of the many dll's available from TCA or IanM or Rob K... or even ask someone to make you one...

THat's the good thing about DBC ( enhanced only ) and DBPro, it's very expandable with the use of dll's.

Hope I Helped...

visual basic can't just create 3d stuff like db can, you'd need to do alot more work. so its not really worth while. vb is good for applications but db is great for 3d

I think its easier to begin allover in vb then to convert it...

This is for several reasons , first of all , direct-x is an component with an 'com'interface and thus not directly availeble to vb.
The syntax of vb is quit different exept voor the standard instructions and funktions.

And the bigest problem is that VB is completly event driven, so it reacts on timers, mouse-clicks etc ...

VB is an OOP language (thus with 'classes'like c++)

yeah i understand the differences, i was just sorta curious what other ppl think, ill have to look into the other multiplayer dll's but iv never used external dll's in a game before
i just got a bit pissed when i put all this effort into first the game then the online code to findout that my comp runs so slow that its on the verge of frezzing every time i connect thro my game

There is a program which finds the nearest stretch of code relevent and converts it from one programming language to another, although they're not very accurate!

HIH.
