does anyone know if there is a way to do this. the problem is when i need to have the user respond to more than one prompt and it just writes the next prompt over the last one, making the second one totally unreadable. thx.

Use Cls at the start of the loop and have it rewrite the text again, after the Cls...

Alternatively, use Set Text Opaque, this makes the text have a background the same colour as the backgound ink colour.
