id say no.. because it would encode the "program" to send it to the rcx and u wouldnt know who the rcx can understand does it run of basic or c or does it only accept pre complied stuff in binary and ud need to know how the ir acually transmitted aswell...only way would be if u could save a db program into the lego programs code and only use commands it can understand

I once saw some lego stuff.. built on to a comp the serial port was linked to a hand made circuit board...(only a few bits on it) and the robotic hand used commands from what was then standard basic.

I seem to remeber seeing much the same thing in a book at one time..it also had the different commands for the different comps including early pc's... might wanna take a look for books on building your own computer controled robots.? If your serious that is.

heres my next question on this: can you tell hardware to do things from dark basic thru USB, firewire, serial ports, etc? if there is, how? that would be fun just to play with on the side.

I think you can't

But here's something useful... You CAN control the Robot inv system with Visual Basic With the software of the Robot inv system comes an OCX control (this is sort of "object" wich controls the Robot with some simple commands) named Lego PBrick control. Theres a PDF with it and its not too hard. Try to program it with that
