hi people ,

I have recently intalled, , no wait sorry, attempted to install the upgrade packy thingy to upgrade Dark Basic. I placed all the downloaded files from this site onto a CD and took it to another computer (which has DB on it) and attempted to install it. I opened the one labled something along the lines of "1.13.exe" and the DarkBasic Screen came up. I clicked all the NEXTs and the loading bar came up. It forze for a while and said something about not being able to modify DB.exe and some other cr@p .#

I also tried with the help option and it did the same thing. What am I doing wrong. PLease help me out!

Richard

What were the errors? "...and some other cr@p" doesn't help us out much.

If you were a bit more specific, I'm sure that Rich, or someone else would be glad to help you out.

Thanks,
Jess.

no, That's all I had on the task bar. The 'cr@p' said that there were prblems creating help files and other complicated number jargon, along with saying that it couldn't upgrade DB.exe

please help me out!

Again, I say you need to be more specific.

Write down the exact error message and post it here, and I'm sure someone will know what the problem is.

We can't help you if you don't give us enough information.

Thanks,
Jess.

im thinking of a number between 1 and 5000000000.....
first u have a go at guessing the number then ill try to guess what the problem is...and we can keep doing this till we fix everything... sound fair?

Quote: "The 'cr@p' said that there were prblems creating help files "

hmm thats a hard one could be a few things the obvious ones are, not enought harddisk space or maybe corrupt files on ur cd or scratches ect. maye bad memory

Quote: "and other complicated number jargon"

id say that as i said before this could be the adress of a bad track or sector on the cd ie. it cant be read or it could be the adress of corrupted memory or bad sectors on ur HD maybe an error number.... who knows....

Quote: ",along with saying that it couldn't upgrade DB.exe "

now this i can help you with, this error shows up because of one of the numerous things that can go wrong with installing somthing, its very easily fixed by reading the rest of the message that accompanies the error, and either acting on what it says or showing someone else the message and asking them for help

[EDIT]
this isnt meant to be taken as a put down or what not, just as a reminder that i could probably help if i get the error message

OK! OK! OK! I can take a hint : I have the actual message:#

CRC ERROR: - cannot Update the following program C:/Program Files/DarkBasic Software/DarkBasic/DB.exe

Please re-start this application to complete the upgrade.

There! I've said it!

Please help me
Richard

You need to apply the patch again, that error ( I'm assuming ) means that the update of DB.exe to 1.13 stoped half way through, thus never completing it.

Try downloading the update again, and apply it to a fresh install of DarkBASIC.

Hope I Helped...
Jess.

Hiya.

I KNOW, I KNOW.... My dad told me!

A CRC error is do do with the download being trashed. Try downloading it again and it should work ok.

WOW, im getting the hang of this.. Hehe

O.

I forgot, he just said that it could be that your patched your db with the enhanced mode hack or summot and that could have trashed your db exe.
????? Hope ya understand that cos i dont.
