Hey everyone! Just bought DB andregistered to the site.

Anyway, first thing I notice when I load DB up is that the cursor is not visible! A very strange and annoying problem cos it's hard to know where I'm clicking. Luckily, the options highlight when the cursor is hovering over them but things are very tricky still. Any ideas how to solve?

My other problems are system errors. Firstly, I tried to make a very simple program...
print "Hello"
Just as a test, but when I went to execute, it came up with the following "Error In Program"...

System Error: Surfaces could not be created. D3D Devices do not support backbuffer bit-depth and HW Acceleration.

So, then I tried to run the Dark Matter Demo instead, and it came up with yet another similar "Error In Program"...

System Error: ERROR 165. D3D Devices do not support backbuffer bit-depth and HW Acceleration.

Any ideas how to solve these three problems will be greatly appreciated...

Problem number 1,
Get DarkEDIT from this site ( in the showcase for DB ).
It is an alternative editor that has Syntax highlighting an a few other features that are quite handy.

Problem 2 & 3,
Update your DirectX version to the latest ( 9.0b ) from Here
Also, get the latest drivers for your video card.

Hope I Helped...
Jess.

Hi,

I've installed DBE - much better! And alot more like I'm used to(VB).

Problem is I got the Direct X 9, but when I tried to run it, it can't be installed on Windows 95 (only on 98 or higher). What am I to do now? On the DB box it says it can run in Windows 95 - any other Windows 95 users here, or anyone else with ideas?

Thanks in advance.

lol

Window's 95 is the computer in my room, ie.the spare computer. ie.the only one my dad lets me install ganmes/programs and stuff. Out actual family PC is ME - abit more recent, lol.

I found Direct 8 on the DB CD, installed that and it still doesn't work, so I guess it's my graphics card. Does anyone know how I find out what graphics card it's using?

Right Click My Computer
Properties
Hardware
Device Manager
Display Adapters

Your GFX card is whatever is in there. For me when I click display adapters I see NVIDIA GEFORCE 4 MX INTEGRATED
