Please test this if you can and report back with some fps results.
Dont forget to tell me your computers specs.

Its a 2 meg download and its arrowkey driven.
Ignore not colliding with the white cubes, they are just not identified yet with maths collision.

It helps me test the random dungeon engine in DT. Each time you run it there will be a new maze.
There is no exit or enter point in this demo but that will be added later.
A torch light will be added later as well.

On a dell Dimension 4100 with 512mb Ram 800mhz P3 processor, Nvidia TNT2 video card i was getting between 13 and 15 FPS.

Seems to run quite smoothly even though it has a slow frame rate. The grey walls stopped me when i went into them every time.

Will try it on my Home machine later (2.6ghz ATI Radion 9800 Pro)

Could everyone with TNT2 video cards please remove them from their computers and throw them into the street immediately. Thank you for your cooperation.

TNT2's are a bit like GF2's - the performance varies quite a bit depending on the manufacturer and video memory. It could be Jasuks setup though.

I'll try it on a 1.1mhz GF2(64mb) machine tonight, I'd expect at least 30fps on that.

[EDIT] Got the specs from DxDiag, since (must be mad), my machine is actually faster than I originally specified ROFLMAO.

Mine averaged around 66Fps and ran very smoothly, also, although you're not using exclusive mode, hence the fast frame rate, if I was to run it in Exclusive, Sync rate should be around 60Fps (Default setting).

Hope that helps.

Paul.

I wonder if its anything to do with coppermine (Cant find that info for my processor)

@Van B
I've passed your request over to my boss, and he got a bit upset that i was asking for a new graphics card because i'd just thrown my TNT2 out the window .

Hehe (Van-B wheels past in his little tractor collecting the various hardware people have left in the street).

Indi, what version of DBPro do you use? - Jasuk has DX8.1 - but DBPro (Patch 5+) need DX9.0a to run nowadays. I'd expect DBPro executables to simply crash when trying to run on older versions of DX. Strange.

I thought that DX9 was only required for shader support but backward compatability shouldn't really make the program fall over.

Paul.

This is very promising. The style reminds me of the old Gauntlett games. They were great.

Anyway I got a consistent steady 59. That was with media player playing music in the background as well. Specs are below.

thanks so much guys. that helps a lot. theres also more room for optimisation within the code.

It was capped at 60 fps.
Im using the latest DBP install 5.2r2
tnt2m64 is kind of the lowest card im working with as the bottom of the benchmarks. Theres quite a few out there.
If I could create 1/10 of a guantlet esque feeling with this Id be happy .
Ive already mentioned things about the white cubes.

Cheers Guys it helps a lot, onto test 2 soon.

I've got a solid framerate of 66 here. Am using GeForce FX 5600 but am planning to switch to ATI Radeon 9800 XT.

And walaber, it's nVidia GeForce 4 TI 4200, not nVidia TI 4200.
