That's pretty cool. Did you use INKEY$() for the controls, because you can't turn left or right while holding forward. Or maybe that was on purpose.

Anyways, it looks like you've put alot of graphical work into this, and I don't get how you got the reflection in the water to work.

My only tip would be to try to change to 3d skaters, instead of sprite based, then the overall game would look pretty good.

So besides that, good job.

[edit]I noticed that your using geocities, unless you're already using DBSpot, then I have a ton of fast webspace at http://www.frostyle.com that you could use. Just contact me.

Good graphics, but the controls are very unresponsive at the moment.

The reflection is the objects above the ground level flipped and put beneath the ground level. The rain effect is my secret .

How does the game behave for everyone who tried it?
Sluggishly, fast?

Thanks for the feedback so far.

fix the controls (up+left, etc...) use a 3D model for your skater... then it'll be awesome.

Realy like the game Liked the grinding and the water reflections.
Played a little sluggish an my xp2000+ and geforce3ti500 not un smooth but if u speeded up the speed of the animations and movement.
Warning dont go light speed like in tony hawk. U could swear you going 60mph Like the water effects and rain. 3d models would be better.

The loading screen loads a progress bar and then it blinks black and exits.

I like it as i said, but the movement is too sluggish and unresposive, speed up the acceleration and turning.

I plan to post an updated version soon with all the changes you guys suggested:

SLUGGISHNESS FIXED
TURNING WHILE GOING FOWARD
SPED UP AND BETTER RESPONSIVENESS

I don't know about 3D models, the sprites will have to do I think. Maybe better animated though. Does anyone know how to get animated GIF's into Dark Basic?

Yeah, animated gifs would be good. Also another thing I noticed is that the ollie needs to be gradual, he just suddenly appears in the air currently.

Unfortunately, I expected a lot more from this game:

- The skater is a blob (Flat object mapped in 3D) (??)

- Jumping is really weird. When you jump, you instantaneously appear in the air without a hint of movement, then you sort of float down without any acceleration or deceleration, therefore defying every law of gravity imaginable. (Okay, I went overboard a little on this one, but so what? )

- The challenges are a bit... random. "Okay, just ollie off the ramp." "Grind the rail." Then... "LAND A DOUBLE FLIP COMBO YOU BASTARD!!"

Hey, you need a model? I'd be happy to make a quicky for you when I have a moment off from school work and my game: email me at thewarty1@hotmail.com if you're interested.

NOTE: The game crashed after the loading screen for me. I'll still make a model for you anyway, because I'm bored of making tanks all the time.

He's obviously put quite a bit of time into this. You shouldn't expect anything from anyone, it's not like you paid for it.

Very nice game my only criticism is that the timing is mean I'd prefer to just play around for a while
