I need to know what FPS you get when walking around the room.
It runs in 1024x768x32 only

screenie:

file, around 2-3mb:

The room is made in Anim8or with Texture Maker textures + adobe photoshop textures. Enjoy the footsteps and the weird guy (you can talk to him, but dont expect much )

Neat, I got 11 fps. Don't worry, though, I've got a crappy Gateway Celeron.

Try this link:
http://www.geocities.com/zodsteels/TEST.zip

note: If you get a "page not avaible" or other message, click on the url in the adress bar, add a white space to the end and press enter. That should open the file.

Belive it or not i tried using just TEST.zip when i got the page cannot be displayed. But you have TEST.zip in a username pw htaccess. And i tried to add a space to the end of the first url, that was a no go to.

The space worked! I only get 10fps but I have a slow computer. I think that I should get 40fps though, you might have some high poly's or something. I like the gremlin with funny clothes on!

59/60 fps
Pentium 4 1.2ghz
256MB Ram
Geforce 2 ti
have you set the sync rate to 60? if not i think the objects may be too high poly, because that is quite slow

It was a little test of what I could do with anim8or (the samurai was included with dbc)

Here's the link to the sourcecode + textures + sounds + room + compiled exe. Its made in DBclassic.

Trowbee, I think you got that because your monitor's refresh rate was set to 75 hz. Anyways, I got 59 - 60 fps with a monitor refresh rate of 60 (It's better than all the other different refresh rates, because it is the only one that runs smoothly and doesn't slow down as much)

My specs:

Intel Pentium 4 Processor (No HyperThreading): 2.4 ghz
GeForce FX 5600 AGP (Running on a motherboard that can't handle AGP 8x, only 4x and 2x)
512 MB Ram

I don't see what would make any computer slow down. Everything is basically low poly.

Well, n0id, here's my wishlist (converting games to DBC/DBPRO)

-StreetRod (3D, look for the topic: "velocity x-treme")
-Blake Stone (3D)
-Diablo (2D top-down)
-Thief dark project (3D)

I dont have DBPRO (thats the biggest problem) so some things are a bit harder (no shaders no dll's etc : but I will finish Velocity X-Treme first f

nice, reminds me of the thief series...

i noticed u capped the fps on 60, however in the room i get an fps ranging from 19 to 30, heres my brief system specs:

P4 1.7Ghz
32Mb ram
Nvidia G2 16Mb

i also noticed you got some pretty high res textures in there, maybe even too high 'cus everything looks too sharp. If your not willing to reduce the number of polygons in the room then i'd suggest you reduce the texture sizes, in my experience i know it increases the fps a lot.

[edit]

p4 1.7Ghz, my bad

all textures are 256x256 pixels. And you really should get more ram and a better videocard. And a P2 @ 1.7Ghz? wow?

I am also planning to make a Thief clone..
I started on the project a long time ago, and then I thought um.. No.
How could I possibly write that kind of AI or shadows or SOUNDS!

I relized that it would be quite impossible, so I started something Light.. Enric the Knight.. And now I'm working on Enric The Knight 2..
