Dear brothers in Christ:

We are developing, video games with religious and moral content, as well as of human values, at level world, very few people they have worried to make this type of video games, however, I love them that exist millions of people that are hoping to use them, Our God Celestial Father, it rewarded the effort abundantly, to carry out these materials.
These video games can be sold to accessible prices or to give to the brothers from all over the world.

I beg them that if some of you interests him this wonderful project, contact me to the biggest possible brevity, for aditional information.

Very trully regards,

David Ruiz A.

That's aa pretty neat idea. Even everybody who isn't particularly into religion will probably be grateful for your efforts in giving the gaming industry a cleaner face. If you're looking for team members though, you'll probably want to look in the team requests board.

Good luck,

Hmmm, good idea "Religion and Moral Video games"... Bad Idea Crazy Donut...

If you want to get any respect at all, and not be totally flamed, I sugest you don't post on the Team Request forums...

But, if you word it correctly and not make it sound as though you will try to start a game cult ( as that will be what you'll be flamed about ) then you might just get away with it...

Good luck

Jess.

Ditch the religion thing, and I'd be more interested.

Not knocking on your beliefs or nothing, but the whole brothers stuff is too much. I believe that the only supreme being is energy, and no intelligent life created us. But not to start a flame war, good luck.

You may want to be careful when including religious things in a game. These are held sacred by many people, and while I am all go for moral content, you need to watch how you incorporate religion and to what adience this will be advertised to.

Some people would find religious material in videogames every bit as offensive as the violence in GTA. It's reasonable to object to violence, but expressing religious beliefs is a mighty grey area in any media.

Making games that have no offensive content is a good idea, it's a good idea to tell people your game is suitable for everyone too - but the thing is that most of the games produced here are suitable for everyone because of the abscence of any particular viewpoints.

One thing that you should be aware of is that with Darkbasic games, changing media and text is pretty simple - if you release a game that has religious content - other religious groups could easily vandalise it and re-release it. There are measures you can take of course, but only to an extent.

I see nothing wrong in making a religious game, people dont have to buy it if they dont want to. Im sure there are plenty of folks who find all the violence in games plenty offensive.

I suggest you map your game out on paper, head over to team requests and make a post filled with details and such. Also, make sure you spell "Christian" right in your signature

God Bless

Ya I remember there used to be some religious games for the old Nintendo Entertainment System... didn't turn out to be great but as long as you incorporate things that gamers like such as good storylines and detailed environments, I dont see why it couldnt be any better than those others.

The Christian gaming scene is an interesting tight rope to walk. I'm afraid that I'd be no good at it. When I first read this title, the game that came to mind was Papel Stormtroopers assaulting godless or evil aliens, kind of a Christian version of Warhammer 40K. So much for non-violence...

About those religion type games....I'm with RPGamer...there's nothing wrong, it's up to the people if they buy it or not...

Anyway...take a look for example to Diablo II....Diablo is from the bible...for us catholics (or catolics..can't write it good ), it's the source of all evil......but for example, for the china people there's no Diablo...every religion has his own good and bad gods...of course, the game is addictive (I'm still playing it! ) and has some religious things...it's only "mixing problems"

Anyway...good luck

Thats a very good example of what I meant in my earlier post. Although whether you want to have violence and the death of lucifer in your games, that is your choice, but as far as Diablo it has attracted many people to the battle between good and evil, and behind its violent nature holds some good moral values. Alright, so maybe Diablo's main focus was on violence, but Im sure you can one-up that, right?

Yes, It's called "Black & White"

If the game is about playing as a god in general, like B&W, I guess it's ok. But if the game is explicitly made with Catholicism/Christianity/any other formal religion in mind then I most likely won't buy or play it. If I need preaching then I'll get it somewhere else. BTW, I do not consider myself atheist, just *cough* no religious preference *cough*. The bit about moral values in games is ok I guess because morality is constant, but you have to find a way to make it fun.

There seems to be some computer, and console games that have some type of spirituality/religion in them from what I've seen. So all in all just go for gusto, and if you let no one stop you there will be some success in this venture. There will always be critics no matter what you do. From my own words, make this game EXCELLENT!! and PROFESSIONAL for GOD, why not?, everyone else does for something they believe in.

GOD BLESS!!!

I can see a game where God speaks to you. There are a ton of games that have a third person talking to your in tutorial mode. There's no reason why you couldn't have a godly voice in an RTS say, "Be fruitful and multiply."

I can envision a Fallout spinoff where you're a survivor of an apocalyptic event and you are chosen by God to rebuild civilization. "There is a village of mutants to the southwest. They worship a bronze idol of Regis Philbin. Show them my wrath."

I would definitely play a game like that! Destroying the evil Regis Philbin-worshipping mutants, having a dude with a really deep voice tell me I'm special, man that would be great. One thing to consider is to not have the game focusing on how things that aren't on God's side are bad, make it light and happy.

Of course, you'd want to include moral questions, helping people, etc. One of the things that I thought was really neat in Knights of the Old Republic was that you could play the dark or the light side of the Force.

I'm sure that you'd want to focus on the good side for this kind of game. You can put in a lot of fun events like when King David had to judge who was the mother of a contested child. The Bible is chock full of events like that. The Old Testament has its fair share of nifty miracles and raging battles as well.

Assuming that the 'apocalyptic event' was rapture related, all the meek have gone on to their great reward and you're left with a tough crowd that needs some old school religon.
