when i try to execute a program, i get the error message: surface can not be created. D3D devices do not support backbuffer bit depth and hw acceleration. what does this mean and how can i fix it?

Do you have DirectX 9.0b installed?

Ok Matt why answer a Q with a Q usually a A would be better.
I've had this same problem for almost a year, yes I have directx 9.0b yes I have an nvida 4 420 I'm running a dell 8200 less than 3 yrs old can't any one answer this question...I've tried Dell support...ndiva...microsoft... they all refer back to the program manufactor.. hmmm no help there either maybe somone here knows.

Have you emailed Mike or Lee about your problem gorthain?

Send them a descriptive email containing your system specs, and I bet you'll get the answer you require...

i have directx 9.0b installed... still wont work... seems we have the same problem gorthain... if you can figure out anything let me know... just outta curiosity, what are your system specs?
