Usually the way cutscenes are done in games they either just program the movement of different objects, but if you actually want to set up animations for different objects then save it to an AVI file most 3d modellers have what is called rendering options, which either makes a picture out of the scene, or makes a movie of the animation in the scene. trueSpace3.2 has this stuff, and if you're modelling in something else trueSpace handles import/export pretty well.

This topic cropped up a few months ago. We came to the conclusion that the best solution was to create animated scenes in a 3D modeller, using your game models. You would then play this animation in realtime for your cutscene.

Milkshape has an AVI recorder. I have never used it but It is there. I am sure you just create your animation press record and play the animation, then load that AVI into DBC somehow. Try milkshape it is a great program.

DoGA CGA can, if you register it. A fair number of 3D renderers support the creation of sequentially number bitmaps that can be converted into MPEGs or AVIs using tools like Virtual Dub.

Beside DoGA, I've made movies in Animation Master and POV Ray. For a freebie, you can make some killer stuff with POV Ray. I'm pretty certain Blender 3D can make movies for free.

BatVink, when you say creating the animated scenes, are you talking about designing a layout, then moving all the objects in code, or just animating it all in the modeller and rendering it to an AVI?
