Maybe you dont have DirectX. I think it was made in DBP, and DBP needs DX 9

It's a problem i used to have with my old PC & my old laptop..

On my old PC, DarkBasic wouldn't run *AT*ALL*, but DarkBasic Pro (trial version) only crashed when i tryed to load an animation and play it.

On my old laptop, DarkBasic refused to play sound files, or even music files if there was a lot of 3D going on, but DB pro worked fine...

(On my new PC it all works, but that's another story... )

But if they were compiled with an older version of DBpro they may use DX 8.0 and not DirectX 9.

doesn't matter - all version of DirectX are backwards-compatible, right from version 2

[edit] Or, it could be the other way around; some of the games were made using a later version of DBP (ie, one that requires DX9), and you only DX8 or sumfing... [/edit]

If the problem is the game loads but is not visable on screen it could be because you need to update your graphics drivers.

When I first looked at DB a year or so back I couldn't play some games they would seem to load but I couldn't see what was happening.

It seems that the onbuilt SIS graphics card I had on my laptop wouldn't allow certain 3d oriented games to be displayed (strange ting it took me to buying Neverwinter Nights to fix the problem as this wouldn't run either).

So all I can say is if it won't run. check the internet for updates in your display drivers as this may just work.
