the name may change but this is a game i am working on with x-trade.
it is a mech game similar to mechwarrior

the map is temporary (using a halo one which i quickly textured atm)
i know there are some blue blades of grass but that is with the glow texture, all things like that will be fixed when we have a proper map and we put real work into texturing them.

downloadable demo here
http://www.lochviewwest.plus.com/Armoured%20Beast.rar
[href]http://www.lochviewwest.plus.com/Armoured Beast.rar[/href]

please try the demo as there are things which are not apparent in the screenshot

controls:

up arrow key = move forwards
down arrow key = meve backwards
left arrow key= turn legs and whole mech left
right arrow key= turn legs and whole mech right
mouse moves torso and when torso is turned more that a certain amount it turns the legs too
left mouse button fires weapon
right mouse button changes weapon (see weapon indicator at top)
spacebar = jump

please ignore the wrong model on the hud and let me know what u think

sorry, i forgot to mention, this will take time to load. you may have to leave it a while, it should offer you a few choices, enter sync rate 0 recomended, then you will get the intro text and then it will begin to load with a black screen

Its a good start...

However, the framerate is horrible; expescially when using the weapons. I think I only got around 20fps at most

I would make the mech have a maximam rotate speed (Right now I can do a 180 with little trouble)

btw, Is that model based on the almighty Clan Super Nova(mechwarrior)? That is one of my favorite mechs.

Fun. I could go though a few things tho. Still really good game!!! But, maybe a loading sign might be good so people don't think the game crashed.

k, good idea and i/we will integrate a tunr speed limit, i know the framerate is bad, i get between 10 and 20 as you can see from the screenshot, we are working on increasing that atm.

the glow mapping was the developing process for the grass there, it's just a diff texture and made a bit shorter so it is shorter, seperate, blades.

the version at the top has all media and an updated exe with no grass animation, there are 2 exe's in the file above that are animated grass, please post which you prefer.

if you don't have a loading sign yet then put this near the begining of your code...(this only works if your using "sync on")

you cannot compile dll`s with your exes so you have to have them with the exe.

@magellan studios, download the demo and find out
and thats a poor loading screen :-P

RAR is like ZIP. Use a program like WinRAR to un-rar it.

right, lets clear a few things up:

1)the new exe's have to go where the original is, you have to download the main rar with the media etc

2)the dll is there so there should be no problems

3)i know the framerate is low but we are working on that

4)i know the grass is a bit too bendy but i have fixed that and will upload it soon in placce of the other additional exe's

5)the loading screen was only thrown in because people here thought the game had crashed when it started loading, i know it is crap so stop moaning, a loading screen is last priority at the moment.

6)if you want a zip version uploading for non-rar people juat ask but they are bigger.

thank you for replying though, no offence intended in the above statements.

if you look at the game i think you'll see we can do better that that, even though essentially that's all it is atm.
