Hey all
I`m a complete noob at darkbasic at present, but I`ve been spending the last few weeks learning various things (creating matrix's, mouse look, moving objects on screen via keyboard or mouse input etc) as I am hoping to do a remake of the super nintendo game Shadowrun (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?gameid=3365). I have no idea if it is even possible to do this in dark basic, but that will not stop me in making the attempt in the very least.
Now what has all this got to do with the subject heading you clicked on your wondering. Well, one of the key points to any good game is in its sound and its music, and I was wondering if it is possible to enable sound/music from formats other than .midi and .wav files for use in darkbasic programs. For example, music ripped from super nintendo games is known as the .spc format, and has far superior sound quality than standard midi files while keeping the small filesizes common with midi files, and as such would make a perfect choice for my remake.
Professional games have been using their own custom sound formats for quite sometime now (unreal engine games for example use the .umx format), and I hope the ability is there to use other formats in darkbasic programs as well.
