Hi all,
Version 2.0 of Earth has just been released.
This version has bug fixes and a few extra features including:

- You can select tiles with the mouse
- You can change the camera mode
- You can change the height Map scale
- There is now a 'Recent files' menu on the file menu
- You can change the background colour
- You can change the display mode

Unfortunately, the planned export as .x feature is not ready for this version of Earth, as there are some issues with loading the models into DBP,

Download it and please let me know what you think!

[Downloads temporarily stopped until file is uploaded onto a better server - please try again later]
File Size: ~ 3.3MB

Thanks,
Robin

ps.
If the download does not work, please try again later - I will soon have the file hosted on a better server

Trying to put in a new width and height seems impossible, and when clicking on New after a matrix has been created, the matrix appears in front of the New Matrix window.

Could you explain a bit more...You're supposed to be able to click in the box an enter your own height/width

The thing about creating a new matrix when one already exists is a bug at the moment, If I can fix that, I'll reupload it straight away,

Unfortunately clicking in each edit box doesn't work - I can only click in one (as clicking in it clears all other fields). Pressing return fills in everything to a default value.

hmmmm.... I didn't notice that before... I'll try and change it and upload a new version tonight.
But you can still use the program with the default sized matrix can't you? Any comments about the actual program?

Yes, its quite nice. Did get a 'Matrix coordinates illegal at line 599' though (this occured after trying to raise a tile after using Mouse Look & then Spin Camera).

A Zoom in & Out function would be useful.

I've also noticed the randomize height doesn't do anything to tiles already modified.

Thanks for the feedback,
You can zoom in and out in spin camera mode using the shift and control keys, and in mouselook mode you right click to move.
I'll take a look into the error you got too, and could you explain a bit more about the randomize problem. Do you mean it doesn't randomize tiles which have previously been randomized? Maybe i just need to stick a randomize timer() in there...I look into that too,

Thanks,
Robin

Sorry if anyone wants to download it, they're going to have to wait until it's uploaded onto a better server, as my website keeps on cutting out,
sorry about that,

With the randomise thing, I found that if I raised a few tiles, then they wont be randomised when that option is selected (they stay the same height).

TCA: I had a look last night and that is very worrying with the 'new' dialogue box...It works perfectly on my pc...can you tell me exactly what you are doing when you want to change the size? I acknowledge that the 'new' dialgue box dissapears behind the matrix if one already exists, when you click in the boxes to type, but other than that I can't see anything wrong with it. Just out of curiosity, what windows are you running? There were some problems with the previous version on different versions of windows...
I'll take a look at that randomize problem - the randomize feature randomizes it based on whatever height the matrix is at ie. if you put the level of randomness to 6, with no tiles selected, then every tile will move somewhere between -3 to +3 in height from its current position (Unlike the randomize matrix command in DB).

I'm currently in the process of fixing the error at line 599 you pointed out earlier

RPG_Freak - I just had to temporarily remove the link because my website kept on cutting out, but I'll put it back in a second so you can download it. Please note if my website says its 'exceeded its allocated data transfer', you'll have to wait an hour and try again

I'm running Windows XP Professional with SP2 RC1
As soon as I started the program, I when straight to File -> New, and came across the window entry problem.

I've haven't tried it on XP Home yet - I'll try and do that later on (they all have SP2 RC1 too).

I have windows xp professional too though I haven't got the service pack upgrade...Heres what I do:
- Load up the program
- go to File>New
- Box appears in middle of screen
- Click in box for width/height
- Type in whatever size
- Press return
- Click in another box
- Type in whatever
- Press return
- etc.
- When finished, Click on 'Create'

If anyone else has downloaded it, please let me know if it works ok
Thanks,
Robin

When I go for File -> New, the window appears (with details already there).

Clicking on 1 field deletes everything on all the other fields.
Typing in something and pressing return, keeps the value sometimes - others it resets to 0.

When I get home, I'll post a few pictures...

Good, thats whats supposed to happen
Quote: "Clicking on 1 field deletes everything on all the other fields."

Ideally that wouldn't happen, but i think it's becuase i'm using the DB input command rather than my own method, that all the text gets deleted. However when you press return everything should appear again...

Strange that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't...Are you using the num pad or the numbers above the letters on your keyboard (For me the latter)...You don't have any ideas as to why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't?

I've tried both. Dont know the cause unfortunately... I think I must have just been pressing RETURN...
The real quick way around it would be to display a proper windows window with the 5 edit windows in (assuming, of course, your not using BLUE).

The main advantage is that for the range fields Windows could do a lot of the validation (as you can enter characters into the numeric fields), and nothing would disappear when you selected a field...
