Well, I'm working on a game for a competition and need to know a couple things first. I have worked with 3rd person games before, but not very good ones. The question I have is how can I set up a game so that the character will automatically walk up a ledge if it is low enough, but if it is too high he will stop moving and need to jump up? Basically, I want someone to go up stairs, and not through walls if they were all part of the same .x model. Any help would be great!

Love to love me baby!

check for collision with a vertical poly. and see how tall it is by moving a cube up it and seeing how far the cube collides with it. actually theres probaly a better way of finding the height than that just cant think of one.

Check out our collision plugin:

It's perfect for "shooter" style games and does exactly what you're asking for, lol.
