It's probably going to need going through quite a lot, as it was made in an older version of DB...

Robin, thanks for taking the time to stop by. Great program you have there. I enjoy using it. It will be quite a job going over the source. If I try it will have to be bit by bit, it's quite long. But beautifully written. It's like a huge tutorial on Dark Basic. At the moment the only clue I could contribute that hasn't been mentioned yet happens when I try to run the source from within
Dark Basic. You'll see the error messege: File does not exist.

its not so much the altering of the code, as creating a new executable.Say I open up the code in DarkEdit, dont even alter the code, then press, MAKE FINAL, it creates the executable ok but, when I run the exe (ie, the 'new' MagicWorld) thats when I get the error.
Do I need to put the exe in a certain folder along with any other files.
I want the ability to use picture files other than .BMP's and to be able to alter the resolution of object movements and rotations, I know how to do this (I think ) but if I cant MAKE a new version then I'm stumped.
Any help?

Well I've got it to create a new version of MW but it runs a whole lot slower than the proper installed version, any guesses as to why?

It could be a path issue - being my first program I'm not sure if I took care of that (ie loading the GUI - it might be looking for the bitmap in an ABSOLUTE path rather than a path relative to the new executable...)

Don't know why a working new version would be slower... could be new versions of DB carry more modules that get compiled into the executable?

If anyone is going to take it on, my first suggestion would be to break it down into functions to make it manageable. I think as I wrote it, I made it one huge sprawling function! A lesson I learned for Total Terrain...

Well, sad to say I just don't have time for it right now. It's almost fully functional as it is, and only needs a few bits and bobs tinkering with to complete it, but I'm afraid it's going to have to wait for the time being: I have far too much on my plate with my filmmaking demands. But it will be completed at some point. Maybe there'll even be a TT3...

Mr Tricks,
It seems like you were right about newer versions of DBC, I uninstalled my updated and enhanced version, reinstalled ver 1.08 and BINGO!!!! works a treat. This has given me so much hassle trying to get it to work you wouldnt believe it but now I'm on my way again.
This could be useful information for others who are having trouble with speed issues on newer versions of DBC, in fact I will post a seperate message about this.
