I'm using 3D Studio Max 5, and I have a max file with animation. But the problem is that when I export it as a 3ds file, it exports the animation, but for some reason, it doesn't set the limbs to the bones. But they were set in the max file.

So, I thought I'd export it as a .x file. Problem is, I can't find anywhere on how 3D Studio Max can export this file.

Any way I can export as a .x? Or, is there a way that DarkBasic can apply limbs to the bones?

BTW, don't give the advice "Use the DB .3ds to .x convertor." It'd be pointless, because the animation still is on the bones, not the limbs.

You need a X export plugin.

Hopefully this little tutorial I slapped together is of some use.

At the end, I show the settings I used to get it to work with DBPro.

It's using the Pandasoft X exporter mentioned by Phaelax.

He has versions that work with Max 4, 5 and 6.

I have a problem. I exported exactly as the tutorial says (although mine had more things, just the animation name and maybe one more thing, I'm not sure). When I load it into DB, and play it, it seems to have the whole object rotate according to animation. So the different limbs don't animate, the whole object does.

BTW, I'm using 3dsmax 5.0, and downloaded the plugin for 3dsmax 4.x OR 3dsmax 5.0. The 4.6 version of the plugin.

Hey Leo, start your own thread, ok?

What do you mean the whole object animates instead of just the limbs?

Alright, I have a walking animation for my model. The bones are attached to the limbs, and looks like the object's walking in 3D Studio Max.

When I export as an .x, exactly as the tutorial says, and then load it into DB, and play it, it doesn't walk. It just rotates back a bit, rotates forward, and then back to it's original spot. The whole object rotates like that.

Alright, is there a way in DB to apply bones to limbs or vice versa or anything that I would be able to do in DB?
